P0306 service - Spark plug boot won't seat when replaced

The other day I got off the interstate and, after waiting at a light for a couple of minutes, noticed a pretty bad vibration when I accelerated into my left turn. Got down the road a quarter mile, pulled over, and shut off the vehicle. Had someone run my code reader out to me and got the P0306 code - Cylinder 6 misfire.

Yesterday I picked up some plugs and ordered wires (due to arrive tomorrow). Never replaced plugs on any of my vehicles, so to see what I was getting into I twisted and popped the boot for cylinder 6 then pulled the wire. Before sticking my socket in and pulling the plug I decided to wait for the wires to arrive and just take care of everything at once. However, when I tried to replace the boot it wouldn't seat properly... it's just loose and free to spin around. Is this indicative of a bad boot/wire (will resolve with the new set) or am I doing something wrong when replacing? Apologies if this is too vague, happy to provide more info as needed.

The wire can sometimes slide in/out of the boot for the slave cylinders (no ignition coil). Try and see if you can push the wire back in a bit and it should click back in. No click=no connection.
