P0441..... Again.....

So, I know this has been discussed a lot, but Im still having issues...
When I first got my 4R, the MIL indicated P0441. Reset code, replaced cap, all was good. The other day, I replaced all plugs, and cleaned the TB. I also had the battery disconnected for a while afterwards. Now shes throwing the P0441 code again, and every time I try to clear the code, it just comes back the next time I start her up. Is this part of the "learning process" or something? The idle was funny for a little while, but I expected that. Im still a noob, but what else will cause the EVAP code to be thrown out over and over? Are there vacuum lines or something I could have screwed up while changing the plugs on the V6?

P0441-Incorrect Purge Flow

Typically if its in conjunction with say a P0455 it points to a gas cap or other large leak.

But basically what is happening is that when the EVAP system is getting to its testing involving the purge flow the vehicle is consistently failing. You may have left something disconnected and/or the purge or other EVAP related items unplugged, I think this may be the case because the idle is affected which could indicate an air leak created by an unplugged line.

I would carefully double check that every vacuum line is where it needs to be and that all your connectors related to what you took off to get to the spark plugs are nice and tight.

The next course of action would be better done with a Toyota capable scantool like the TIS Techstream 1.0 or 2.0 because the EVAP system you have on the vehicle self-diagnose itself easily with a factory capable scantool. Otherwise you're going to have to go the route of smoke testing and older EVAP testing methods which are a pain.

Thanks for the quick reply! I snuck out during work a few mins ago and looked again and noticed the vacuum switching tap noise generator thing was unplugged! Ah-derrrr! Why did I not notice it the first two times I checked? Especially considering the color of the plug is vastly different from the surrounding engine components. I really amaze myself sometimes... Kinda scary though :doh:
