PA Amplifier

I've been looking around and can't really find what I'm looking for. I had a PA connected to my CB behind the bumper and it got destroyed, so I'm gonna get a new one soon but I want an amp to boost the sound since the output seemed to be lacking before :shrug:

As I understand it, regardless of the PA's current rating, the CB puts out what it puts out which ultimately dictates how loud the PA will be (assuming the PA's current rating isn't limiting). I just want a little 12V amplifier that plugs into my battery and goes between the CB and the PA to boost the amperage, is there anything available like this? I found what looked like a possible inline amp on Newegg for like $48, which is more than I want to spend (and I don't know if it would even work). Ideas or thoughts? Or am I approaching this the wrong way? I have a UNIDEN PRO520XL CB. Thanks

Is the Pa out on the cb just a standard headphone jack?

Most of the PA speakers are only around 10 watts. You can get an amp and that will boost you in upwards of a 100 watts. Here's a site, but things are pricey.

the speaker may be the issue.
I had an old PA off a fire truck. it was fuggin HUGE. someone had cut a good length of the cone off before I got it, and it was still huge.
it was loud as hell.

I do still have it, mounted under the hood even, but it stopped working a few years go. I never looked into WHY.

My CB is a 7-watt system though, doesn't that mean I can't fully utilize the capabilities of any PA higher than 7W? Otherwise that would do the trick I think :thumb:

Pretty sure that one has a built in amp for it. If that is the case it's not powered by your cb anymore. Here's another one, a little less wattage.

In theory then, you could use any car audio amp, just convert the 3.5mm jack to RCA's, then you could do multiple horns if you wanted too.

Small 2 channels can be found for 30$ or less rather easily.

Can I somehow use my subwoofer amp? Or will that only amplify the subwoofer signal or something...

If the sub amp has a speaker level input it would work.
But the second speaker above would be simpler.
The first one does not have an amp built-in.

Basically all mono amps will only amplify up to around 200Hz, you'd need a full-range amp.

That's true, a decent sub amp probably would cut off all the mid and high freqs.
