PAC Steering control help

I have a 2003 SE 4runner and recently installed the Alpine W203 in it with the Pac steering wheel control module. The audio place where I got my radio installed said they cant get the steering wheel control to work.. I shouldnt have brought it to the place... Anyways,, I've read some threads saying its tricky to program... For those who got it to work with their Alpine please help.... Also, are the lights on the steering wheel still functional after yalls install? Any help or advice would be great,thanks...

I just installed mine and it was a bit tricky. Mine was for a pioneer unit. One my power wire wasn't connected properly so when I attached that it was functioning. But programming is fairly involved. Read through the directions once to know what steps will follow. I noticed on mine... if I waited to long on a step I had to start over. Probably the trickiest part (that i was able to avoid because I got the PAC TATO as well) is working the wires for the connector. Since I got the TATO to couple with my PAC SWI PS, it came with a pre-wired connector (and also a spare that had ALLthe wires if I wanted to wire up a different unit). I remember looking at it and the instructions thinking... that goodness I don't have to do that.

I returned my back to store. $125.95 plus the headache of splicing and soldering into harness, I say the hell with it! Unit is within easy reach, and besides it's touch screen control therefore steering controls would be used rarely even if they worked.

Revo, after you got it to work. Do the steering wheel control buttons light up at night? I swear the buttons light up at night when I had the old stock radio installed...

I had to run out and check. Yes... they still light up even with the PAC steeringwheel device.

Revo, thanks for the quick response... I'm goin to a different installer to try and get this thing goin.. I appreciate the help....
