Paint chipping

On the hood I've got some paint chipping. 4-5 tiny spots. Do you guys touch them up to protect them, what's the protocol?

Anyway I went to the Toyota dealer and the parts guy gave me the touch up paint for free, so I picked up the fiber drain plug washers and here too they charge a buck a piece.

As far as the paint, I don't know much but I can tell you that neither the brush nor the pen that come with the paint, were effective, for me at least. What did work well, was to pickup a little paint with the end of a flat toothpick and use that to just dab onto the chip.

I had a few chips here and there... i use the touch up paint from toyota using the brush... no special way of doing it and no major change on how it would look.. it's just not gonna be as noticable

I use touch up paint and then the Langka product for about $40. It really helps get rid of the "blob" making chips much more unnoticeable. You can only find it if you know where to look.

For small chips a toothpick is much better than a brush. Those pen things suck.

I've gotten good results by just letting it dry for a few days then tape off the surrounding area, wet sand it with 1500 or 2000 sandpaper, then buffing compound.

This morning, on my brand new, 3 week old 4Runner I noticed that I had a spot of paint flake off from the front bumper when I was using a power washer to spray off dead bugs. I immediately took it to the dealership and their detail guy will fix it with a blend (touch up paint and sanding and all that stuff I do not know how to do) on Monday morning for $100.
Not the most ideal situation considering it is brand new and there are no dents, indentations or other damage aside from the dead bug that I could tell but getting it fixed now and hopefully never worrying about it again would make me content. I was also pleased with the service department of the dealership (Go Toyota on Arapahoe in Denver). They were reasonable and helpful in getting it all settled.

It is my belief that the paint is a bit thin one the runner. My front has several small rogue-rock chips. I hate bra
