Paint?

Is there a place where I can order a spray can of color-matched paint? I can't stand chrome, and would like to try painting a set of door handle covers and maybe the front grill piece.

I've used duplicolor oem colormatch from oreilly, autozone, & advance auto. It matches really well, I painted the center section of bumpers with it. They have most toyota colors (mine was natural white 056) I sprayed it really thick and also used the duplicolor oem clear coat. I used 2 cans per bumper plus one can of clear per bumper just to make it good and thick.

I can't tell it's not factory nor can my friends.

I bet if you removed all the pieces and took them to a decent body shop, they would paint them for you for pretty cheap. My bro-in-law had his Taco grill painted for under $100 I think and it looks awesome.

Please remember that painting chrome properly requires a time consuming prep process if you want it to last...

With it being just a coated plastic, I was planning on sanding the chrome off. Will this not work?

Surely there's something that will take it down to bare black or whatever it is underneath... (wet sand $ paint thinner maybe?)

I did that with my old Volvo grill, just sanded off the plastic, started coarse and worked my way down. It wasn't bad at all and the paint stuck to it great.

Yea I'm thinking probably a 300, 800, 1500 (2000) grit progression should work fine.

I'm just wondering if I should paint the front grill pieces body color or black. I think it may look out of place black, not sure though.

I also want to paint the side mirrors body color. The flat black just looks out of place.

What color is your 4R?
