Paint?

no, i had the stock chrome grille, then bought the color keyed grille & painted the old chrome center piece black. u should be able to paint it the same color as ur truck, even with the correct color code paint it may not be an exact match but close enough. thats a bumper i painted myself
 
Yea I'm thinking probably a 300, 800, 1500 (2000) grit progression should work fine.

2000 is much to smooth for the paint to stick. You need some tooth in the material you are painting for the new primer to stick too. Most shops sand to 600 wet and stop there. Also use a plastic primer made for the type of plastic you are painting.
