I'm actually in the process of doing this. It can be very intense if you want to do it correctly. You can throw it together, but prep is 90% of the job.

Gluing broken clip tabs.
Removing glue residue and tape off of the body and cladding. This has to be done to install new tape or you'll have see the tape between the cladding and body.
Ordering parts. I am using non OEM clips and rivets that work great.
Washing the cladding and the body.
Sanding.
Wiping down the cladding with acetone.
Waiting for the correct temp and humidity to paint.
Installing the double sided tape.

This is exactly what I want to do with my 99 Runner. I like the black all along that bottom flare on the doors part. Doing the mirrors adds a nice touch too.

I'll put it on the list as project #4 for next summer when I won't kill myself in the garage with the fumes.
