Painted My '03 SR5 16" Wheels - Satin Black

Haven't seen anyone paint these yet so I gave it a shot...let me know what you think. Oh and Spidertrax just got put on too...

Looks better than stock.......but definitely needs black wheel lugs too. I just took my TRD 18x9s today to get powdercoated -- will post pics when theyre done. What kind of lift did you put on??

I agree, but i've painted, powdercoated, and even tried anodized black lugs and they ALWAYS get scratched when rotating tires and I think that looks even worse.

The lift is:
OME 894 w/ Toytec Topout Spacer
Toytec Rear Superflex Coils
Stock FJ Shocks

Basically a 3" suspension lift.

Post pictures of your wheels when they're done, I love those wheels...i've seen about 3 4Runners around here with them. One of them has 35" M/T's mounted on them, looks real good.

@ tejas runner...what year is your Runner? It looks just like mine which is an 04. Post up some detail on what you did and how you did it. I like the way it looks but cannot figure out if I want to slap some new shoes on mine or get bigger ones, I had to zoom way in to see your tire size which is the same as mine. Any issues on tire rubbing?

Do you have plans to get rid of those teeny meats? With some 33's your truck will look mean.

Sinister! The tires look a little small. I vote to keep the rims black and upgrade to a more aggressive/bigger tire when you can! Lookin good!

great job! what paint did you use for the job?

I used Rustoleum Automotive Primer (3 coats) and their newest Satin Black (4 coats), the nozzle allows you to spray at angles and upside down.

If I could go back, i'd use a regular can without the "special" nozzle...it tended to shoot out little spots every now and then which can get frustrating.

All-in-all I think it turned out really good, I don't know why I took a picture of that wheel...that's the only one not completely done and it has fingerprints all over it. I was tired, wasn't thinking.

It is a 2003...i'll do a write up within the next day, but if you search what "BlairB" did to his wheels I pretty much followed that, plus a few extra things.

The tires are the stock tires that came with the truck, 265/70/16. I'm moving up a few sizes to fill in the wheel wells, I think 265/75 is the smallest you'd want to run and still have it look good with a lift. There's no rubbing issues at all and the Pathfinders actually run pretty big. I painted the spare first, it has a brand new Michelin on it in the same size and it's significantly smaller.

Definitely, i'm just waiting on them to get here. I took off the wheels to put the adapters on and decided I wanted to change up the look. I went with 295/75's...hoping they'll clear the UCA's. If not, i'm going to go with 285 BFG's.

So, I have a white 4x4 07 SR5 with the same rims as well. I'm not like a lot of people on here with seemingly endless amounts of cash flow.... and I've been day dreaming of aftermarket rims since I got the vehicle in summer '13. I didn't think the SR5 stock rims looked terribly bad, however they lacked some personality. I really like the TRD Trail Team Edition black rims... which oddly enough look similiar to black stock SR5 rims. Not the same, but eh, similar. I've been wondering what the SR5 rims would look like black and I'm so very happy to see your thread. Thanks for taking the time to post it up.

If you still have the ride, how's the paint held up? Did you keep the rims for a bit, or eventually go aftermarket? Lastly, what's your suspension set up?
