I finally got around to getting this put together. This will be in two parts.
Mishaal, Tyler, and I met up at a Starbucks in Tustin at 9:30am for a trip to San Diego County. We made one stop in Temecula for gas and treats then back on our way. Traffic was not an issue getting down there.
We got started at the beginning of the Palomar Divide RD off of Hwy 79 past Oak Grove around 12:30pm. The road started out as the typical truck trail dirt road somewhat bumpy, and not too far up the trail as you can see in the first picture it was paved.
This was at the first stop.
Second stop gave us real nice view of Lake Henshaw.
A tempting hill at the second stop, but we weren't up for the challenge. Next time maybe.

The thrid stop I didn't get any good pictures, but was still was a nice scene. Also we had only traveled 5 miles in 1.5 hours and realized that if we didn't get a move on it would be dark before we got back to the main drag. The trail is a total of 22.5 miles. Given our pace at that point it would have taken us more than six hours to complete the trail. We took off thinking we would take advantage of the paved road to make up some time, but about 1/3 of a mile later wouldn't you know it the pavement ended, and we were on dirt again. The journey to our fourth stop was more uphill rocky, and bumpy.
The fourth stop found us at a hill which we decided to venture over. Not too challenging but was fun just the same. The view from off that hill was pretty nice too.
