Well i can say this forum is addicting. looking at all your amazing builds is tempting me to spend all my money.

$4,400 with 196,760 miles
Since my 2Runner isnt offroad capable at all, its been my daily for the past 2 years. Sadly, most of my mods are for looks.. :( as soon as i take care of maintanence (currently at 218,000) within the next month or so, i will start to my real build into a 4Runner.

For my first "High School budget" Mod, i removed and painted my emblems, front Toyota emblem, and re-painted the grill semi-gloss black.

removed my running boards. And also the nasty hood deflector had to come of too.

18th birthday. pops surprised me with a new Alpine HeadUnit and new Alpine Type-S Speakers

My old stock stereo was a complete disappointment. the volume control was stripped so i took 5 times the effort to raise or lower the volume and sometimes would glitch to max volume and pop the speakers. Then the oh so advanced Attena on the 4Runners started to poop out on me, and eventually would not even retract. So i bought one of those Monster Cable Tape convertors to play my music through my tape player. it was time for a new stero and a antenna. instead of replacing the antenna, i bought a antenna booster, which works for the time being!!

yeah. this site is bad about inducing some serious 4x4 envy. My 2Runner is currently for sale and a lower mile 4x4 will be in my driveway by summer. All thanks to T4R.org. :)

I went on one trail with my 2runner after lifting it and the whole deal, the day i got back it had a for sale sign on it and bought a real 4RUNNER the next week :) i know how you feel, this site gets to you haha

theres a lot of doable stuff around alpine you can do with 2 wheel drive, I used to have a 2 wheel drive tacoma back in the day and went everywhere in it.

yeah. I've done some crazy **** in my 2wd. I'm not saying there not capable. But man a 4x4 is good piece of mind when your by yourself with limited recovery gear. That's all I was saying.

Welcome! Nice bday gift. Your folks seem to know a good gift!

As far as the antenna, they're pretty easy to replace. If you don't want to deal with the electronic antenna anymore, search "taco whip mod." Basically it's replacing the stock antenna for the stock Tacoma antenna.

I was gonna get a 2wd because I couldn't find a decent 4wd in my price range. After I thought about I told myself if I'm gonna get a rig it HAS to be 4wd. So I waited until I found one. Got a 99 w/ 135k miles for 6g. 4wd of course. Welcome to the site, loads of info. With those amount of miles I suggest an aftermarket trans cooler, prevent the dreaded pink milkshake.

Awesome username op! panda was my nickname for years lol

Thanks!

Looks great dude and dont let the fact that its 2wd stop u from anything...

Thanks man! yeah im just grateful i could get a 4Runner
