I would never just pay a fine and admit guilt regardless of the circumstances. Guilt has to be proven beyond a reasonable doubt and sometimes you get lucky with a lenient judge. If you can spare the time, fight it.

The window tint is legal though (for her)! She has an affidavit of whatever it is called due to medical issues. They should look up the vehicle before writing a ticket.
My front plate ticket was just whatever. I bought the truck that way.

If it was legal, then I don't even see what the big deal is, just send in your proof of medial necessity and have the ticket waived, no harm no foul. Buying a truck that way really is not an excuse for why you continue to operate it that way under your ownership...just sayin'

Please understand I have nothing against you, nor am I trying to attack you personally, but a lot of people are too quick to blame others before taking a step back and looking at the overall situation.

Funny, I got a ticket as well for no front license plate almost a year ago. That too, was around $80. That one really pissed me off because my front bumper does not have a spot to mount a license plate, and I had just gotten the car recently. I couldn't even zip tie it if I wanted to!!!

For the guys scratching their heads why I'm pissed, read the freaking thread. I know I'm guilty, but I have a right to a trial first. And you know what happens when you show up to court for traffic/parking citations? 99% of the time they reduce it or waive it. Might want to keep that in mind.

And another reason, $90 for parking slightly in a truck loading zone at 22:00 when said loading zone never gets used at ridiculous hours? Give me a break. Multnomah county can suck it for all the people they try to rear end for money.

If your whole mantra is "innocent until proven guilty", and you already acknowledge that you're guilty, then what's the point in ranting about your right to a fair trial first?

BTW, I don't see how paying the money up front has anything to do with waiving your right to a trial. Paying the money up front should have no bearing on the outcome of your trial.

The court will consider your explanation and either refund your bail or forfeit all or part of it.

Your rant above might suggest that you're afraid they won't reduce it or waive it if you paid up front, but clearly it is not the case.

So is your beef that you will be out the $90 bucks sooner rather than later while waiting for the trial? Same exact thing can be said from the city's perspective for those people who like to drag on parking ticket trials (by appearing in court and asking for an extension over and over again until the statutory limit) just to not have to pay it right away. Might want to keep that in mind too.

Last thing to keep in mind is Multnomah County didn't hold a gun to your head and force you to go there or park in that illegal parking spot on the road. If you don't like getting reamed for money, don't go there, plain and simple. If you do want to go there, then you've got to play by their rules.

I got a ~$120 ticket for parking on an empty street at 1 AM, the reason I got this ticket is because I didn't see the sign that said the first 20 ft of said empty street is reserved for emergency vehicles only. Does it suck to know that I could've moved back 20 extra feet and not have to pay the fine? OF COURSE. But does it make me any less guilty just because it was late and no one was using the space? NOPE.

You can make all the excuses you want or try to play it down, but if you're wrong, you're wrong.
