Agree there are some serious discrepancies with Steve and his part-out. I had already paid him via Wallet before this thread took a bad turn with the damning evidence. Believe me I would have stayed far away if I had known about the fake VIN. Being untruthful would not endear anyone here or anywhere. So kudos to all of you who work to keep this forum and its members legit. You have created a level of trust on here for all of us. Thanks again.

Contacted Steve offline to understand what was going on. In short, he didn’t want to reveal the real VIN for fear that it would expose his personal information. But as we have seen in this thread, it didn’t work out that way. He stated that his decision to preserve his personal info by withholding the car’s VIN was a mistake in judgement. Then to try and deceive us by posting the VIN to a car that he does not own, was an even dumber move.

I asked for evidence that he actually had possession of the 4Runner that he is parting out. I asked for pictures of the parts that I paid for with “Cliff” in the picture. Those pictures are attached. Thus I feel that Steve is a legit seller, who tried to cleverly protect his identity, but failed in doing so.

This forum is family of sorts for some of us. Like family, let’s learn from this and support one another. I’m sure Steve would be open to constructive feedback.

I'll keep everyone posted on the status of the parts I ordered.
