Has anyone ever had a significant parts delay in a hub from Marion Bumper2Bumper.com. I ordered about 3 weeks ago and still waiting. Bill seems like a great guy and this is by no means to hurt or trash his business, but he needs some help out that way. I did not have this delay the first go around so I am a little concerned now that he has my money and I have no part.... I have reached out to him and know he's busy but when it comes to honoring your time frame with parts arriving and they're not showing up I get concerned because I am not local and cannot just drive by.

I understand the concern, I didn't have an issue with Marion the last time I ordered; but it did take a couple weeks for them to arrive.
If I remember right he does all these assemblies himself on the side from his normal job, so that could be an issue. Have you tried calling/emailing him again? I would say this is one of those cases where as anxiety inducing as it is, to have faith, be patient, and try and get a hold of him. He's been reliable and honest, so I imagine this is just a odd situation.

Ugh, I feel your pain. Just last week I was going to buy a bearing/hub assembly from Marion but was a little turned off by all the "I don't work weekends, holidays...2-7 business day order-to-ship time" talk on his site. I ended buying from Blue Pit Bearings. Yeah, I know, it cost $100 more, but I ordered on a Wednesday and it arrived on Friday. $100 well spent if you ask me.
I'm not bashing Marion, I've heard good things about him, but waiting 1-3 weeks while your bad wheel bearing continues to eat itself isn't something I wanted to do.

These guys just press the parts together, a mix of OEM and aftermarket stuff. They say there's a really tight tolerance for square and press depth requiring special made sleeves and fixtures to press. I've pressed my own together to save a few bucks but sourcing the orings/seals in 1's and 2's plus shipping is a pain and wasn't really worth it. Doing it again I'd buy a premade assembly. Pricing is much less than Toyota and quality is usually the same exact bearing as Toyota, aftermarket seals and hub casting (less important than the bearings itself). They aren't junk if that's what you're asking.

Yes, they do require something "special" on the bottom of the bearing to hold the inner race. You have to do that so no force is pushed on the actual bearing.
There is special "tools" for it, but I use a large socket on the bottom of the bearing on the inner race and it works just fine. I have pressed dozens of these bearing assemblies for people (FJ, Tacomas, 4TR), and my own vehicles. Never had a failure. If you don't have a press it's cheaper to just pay a local shop or machine shop to press it. Takes all of 3-4 minutes so they should not charge you more than $20-30.
I buy the Dorman hub and Timken bearing (its a Koyo bearing in the Timken box) off Amazon. Seal I get from Napa.

Yes its easier to buy a pre assembled unit from one of the vendors, but if you have a press, or are time crunched and they don't have one in stock don't be afraid to just do your own

I've ordered from Bill before and mine too took a few weeks, I asked him how long originally and I was told one week, it ended up taking two before it even got shipped out, and then got lost in shipping...not Bill's fault but frustrating to say the least. I've never heard anything bad about NJ636's assemblies, and if I need future one's I'll probably give him a shot.
Hey wanted to follow back up and say I got my part late, but it arrived and I installed today. While at it I checked passengers side that was replaced by part ordered from Marion back earlier this year. Is this grease normal? It has been on less than 8 months?

Aren't they supposed to sealed bearings? In either case, sealed bearing or bearing with cup seal, I do believe they are leaking more than bit early if that grease is in fact, and it appears to be, coming from the bearing assembly. I had been wondering if I'd go OEM and find a press when I ever need to do mine. This thread helps answer that question. Can they be pressed with a good 8" vise?

[MENTION=23368]rgcary[/MENTION] It might be a bit of extra grease seeping out. I do recall Marion saying he adds a bit extra since most of the bearings he's seen from factory that failed seemed a bit under greased.
The bearings are sealed somewhat, but it's actually two halves that are pressed together in the housing and then seals and o-rings on each side. I'd just check with Marion to make sure you're all set. I vaguely remember having a slight bit of seepage after installing mine, but after cleaning it off it hasn't been an issue.

Thank you. Marion reached out to me today via text and said he usually overpacks them but if no play or noise you should be okay. I will test tomorrow once this hurricane passes us in NC. I cleaned off and will see what happens. Thanks for letting me know.
yes, I have a press and the parts and can put them together easily.
