Wheel Bearing Hub Assembly Recommendations (Update)

Need at least one for left front on an '05 Limited V6 4WD. I saw a thread from back in '19 regarding this topic....

Looking for updated recommendations. Does not seem like Marion or Jersey Built are still in the business. Appears that Blue Pit Bearings and 05Taco4x4 over on the Tacoma World forum are still operational. Anybody else out there providing assemblies using quality bearings?

None of the offerings on Rockauto looked like they were using particularly high quality bearings. If I had to pick something from there, I might go with the SKF BR930978 for $96.79.

The Tacoma World guy is using NSK bearings and cost is $325 for a pair. I guess I think OEM for 4th gen T4R might be Koyo? NSK, however, has a great reputation and perhaps is OEM for 3rd gen - not sure. Also the SKF bearings are well thought of although not OEM for T4R - at $96.79 from Rockauto those seem quite inexpensive. Does anybody have any experience with SKF bearings and/or these SKF assemblies from Rockauto?

I installed a set of the SKF assembly (BR930978) a year ago on my '04 and they have been solid so far. In terms of quality I can't say they are better or worse, but fit the same as OEM.

Going back to my first bearing failure and it was the drivers side at 130k which I replaced with a Koyo bearing in the factory hub. That Koyo bearing only lasted to 200k and failed. So at 200k I replaced both the drivers and passengers side with SKF assemblies. Given the passenger side had no issues, but I figured it might go before long and I was tearing everything apart to do ball joints anyways.

I bought NAPA in 2019 and my driver's side just started making noise after 85K miles. Disappointing but they're honoring the lifetime warranty. I picked up the replacement at NAPA the other day and it's a Dorman (p/n 950-001) but there's no name on the bearing.

I have what I think is classic bearing noise (steady rhythmic humming that changes when turning side to side) but I got it up today and could not get much movement out of the wheel, even with a crowbar underneath. I put a stethoscope on the back of the hub, spun the wheel and really didn't hear anything when compared against the other side. The inboard CV boot is split but not getting the classic clicking sound. I am going to go ahead and just replace the cv joint/axle and see if that takes care of it. If not, I get to take it apart again and replace the wheel bearing assembly.
