Parts interchangability for 1st Gens

Hey all you 1st Gen gurus--will most or all body parts interchange on the 1st Gen? If I go with what I'm looking at, I'll need doors, front fenders, and roof/cap--will anything up to '89 work? In case you're wondering, it has the goods underneath, which is why I'm considering something that needs these other parts (which are much cheaper than lockers and axles, etc.).

Yep all interchangeable. Only slight difference is that some models had door vent windows and some had not.

Thanks Doug! I haven't bought it yet, but it's under serious consideration. It's probably earlier than I should be getting into something (monetarily speaking), but I'm tired of not having anything to go have some fun in, and the ones for sale with good wheeling gear are few and far between.

Most of those parts (sheet metal, glass, etc) from a 84-88 pick-up will work too, 2WD or 4WD.
 
Bob...I have an extra set of doors, non-electric. They ain't the prettiest thing out there, but they ain't beat to hell either. You could have the damn things. We'd have to figure out how to get them from TX to GA. If they will fit as I drive to Maryland, I'll hand them over to my boss, who lives in ATL...he could hold them for ya. But...I doubt I'll have the room in the back.

That would be sweet, Kevin, but I would need at least a couple more months before I would be ready for a cross-country drive, and that's if there aren't any hidden bugs I need to work out besides the obvious stuff. Thanks for the offer, though!

Alright, brother...My rear glass decided TODAY was the day to roll up, and then stop working. So I'm loading everything through the front doors. Speaking of doors...I don't have room...unless I put them on the rack...but there's a sweet-ass Rocky Mountain Slayer decked out XTR/RaceFace/Marzo 8" taking up that real estate. If you end up needing them, let me know...we can figure something out.
 
Unless something happens in the next few days, this looks like a done deal--I should soon be joining the 1st Gen family. I took it for a drive today, including some wheeling to confirm the lockers were working, and I told the guy I'd take it. It's going to need a lot of odds-n-ends, but I'm satisfied enough with the running gear to take the leap. Will post pics once it's home so you can all laugh at how ugly it is right now! And so begins the next adventure...
 
I have a friend with a perfect set of doors, both originally had power windows I think. They're only shells.

Problem is they're not going to be cheap and then there's shipping. Maybe you might be interested, idk.

Thanks for the info, CoB! I'll probably just look for something cheap closer to home. There are a few ads around here from guys parting out Runners, so I'll look into them. I'm just hoping the body is still straight enough for the doors to seal properly--the roof doesn't appear to be damaged, but it's definitely been on its side a few times. I'm starting this on a "shoestring" budget, so things may take a while to gain steam, but a lot of what it needs shouldn't cost too much. What it needs the most is a SERIOUS cleaning, so I can get a better look at things--it's been a trail-only rig for some time, and looks the part (rough but ready).
 
I'll ask my boss, who lives in GA...if we have a track headed that direction from Fort Worthless, I might be able to toss them on it...but that may be months away.
 
Well, that will be one of the first things I do to it, probably before the end of THIS month. Thanks for the consideration, though!
