parts list for doing an a/c evaporator replacement

rubber grommets were all fine on my rig.

ok, then I guess I don't need to replace them, just wasn't sure if they held up over time.

talking about $6 each for the evap and heater and like $4 for the drain so its not a lot of money but if they are fine I see no reason to replace perfectly fine parts like these that can be done later without puling the dash apart

Wiper fluid has to get back to the rear wiper somehow....lol...I was like WFT is this when i saw it...

rear wiper ....... oooohhhh ok now I get it :yo: its amazing how thkngs that "should be" easy to figure out sometimes aren't.

still makes no sense they didnt run it along the frame to the rear like they did with brake and fuel lines and then come up for the rear wiper. I mean why have 20ft of house running inside the vehicle where it can be damaged and leak?

I think its the temperature blend thermostat or something and it only costs $12.

Typically they dont need replaced, but if I knew it was that cheap, I would have done it.

NOTE: once you place the therm resistor in the new fins, leave it. If you have to re-do it, pick a different fin. It must be securely fit, if not, funky things may happen (as I was told).

well the guy im using is a chevy dealership mechanic, he does side jobs for extra money and gets to do it at their shop so I feel good he "should" be able to do it properly

and yes that was my thinking on the price, I just wasn't sure if it was actually stuck into the fins or just clipped onto the front with a plastic holder like window a/c units do.

I realized I forgot to order the condenser, part number 88461-60091, so I went look it up and found it costs $275 so I just bought the $75 drier element bag instead. part number 88474-17010

just couldn't see spending the extra $200 when my condenser is still in perfect condition

I was only going by the Toyota part numbers and didn't have any crossover part numbers.

ebay is cheaper because amazon always adds sales taxes on top of the price so I bought it for $85

it would have cost me $90 at amazon

The heater core is with the evap. In the picture the evap is on the left, next to the drivers right leg. The heater core is on the right, between the air intake/fan and the evap. You can see the inlet hose at the back.
And yes it is a big job to get everything out!

i just got the new heater core delivered and it is a bit unnerving that the heater core pipes pivot and move around so easily with the o-ring seals and crimp connections on them, but it holds pressure when tested

well i just got my 4runner back from the mechanic

he said it was a real PITA but its done

evaporator was covered in oil in the bottom corner so im sure thats where the leak was. no sign of anything like a ding from installation so its just a freak leak for no reason in a spot with no stress or vibration or anything to explain why it leaked.


the mechanic did manage to lose one of the plastic cover plug for the grab handle screws, does anyone happen to know what that thing is called by toyota and "maybe" can make my day by telling me a part number for it?

Does you mechanic want to do another?
