Passenger Side Coolant Leak

Hi everyone,

I know that this is a topic that is brought up often. For a few weeks I have been trying to figure out where my coolant was leaking. I bought some UV dye and added it to my radiator and finally found the leak in the rear heater line under the passenger side door.

I read that we can re-route the hoses and simply stop using the rear heater. I want to do this but can't seem to grasp what hoses should be moved and re-routed. Can anyone try to explain this to me? I have searched for an hour and it's not quite clear.

Rear hoses

I just replaced my heater hoses and the 2 small hoses that run towards the pass. side are the one feeding your rear heater core.Here is a pic.

Thank you guys after comparing the pics and looking at mine I was able to figure out what to do.

For anyone trying to do this in the future it can be confusing looking at the hoses in your truck.

The two that I switched are easy to find because they are the only two with "normal" clamps that you can squeeze with pliers and pull off. All of the other clamps are weird and have a more permanent clamp holding them on. So look at the hoses and look at the lines that go to the rear heater. One of the lines should have a hose with a "normal" squeeze clamp. Then look at the hoses that are in the back middle of the engine bay and one of those has a "normal" clamp and basically you'll be swapping those two hoses. This will return the coolant back into the system and avoid the rear heater.

A word of caution: be ready for the coolant to come pouring out of the bottom of your 4runner wherever your leak is. This is because unclamping the hose lets air in and undoes the vacuum effect that was holding the coolant in the lines.

It's a heater control valve,mine crack also when i removed the hoses.
