Passenger Side Lean!!! After Lift!!!

Okay I lifted my 4Runner a little over a month ago with TRD Struts and a top out spacer, I got the lift that I was looking for but I lean to the passenger side in front about an inch!! I can feel it all the time when I am driving. I am debating replacing with some Bilstein Adjustables but am not sure if they are adjustable enough?

I have thought about taking the top out spacer out of the driver side and trimming it down a little to see if that helps. I am just unsure where I should look to change things.

Please any and all opinions and professional advice let me know what you think.

Have you measured the center of the hub to the fender on both sides? Measure this first to confirm that you really have a lean and it's not just your perception. I have felt some lean before, but it was just the road and when I did the measurement, they came out right about the same.

Post your hub-fender measurements here so we believe you, we like data (well, some of us at least...) :nerd:

Interesting. Many people see a lean to driver side (passenger side higher) with a lift. Could it be that you've only focused on the front end and haven't looked at the rig from the rear? You might the rear passenger wheel well being a bit higher than the driver side. Also, you might see the rear end of the truck shifted a tiny bit to the passenger side. If so you can use an adjustable panhard bar from Sonoran Steel or panhard bar drop bracket from Trail Gear (I think, could be All-pro) to get back closer to stock geometry.

I have measured and it is off when i measure, an inch. the back is off 1/2 inch but I have the stock bump stop i can put back in to make up the difference. I dont think it would throw off the front end that much do you?

Stock bumpstop? Did you take your isolators/bumpstop with the cone looking thing attached out from the top of the rear springs when you installed?

you could swap side on the springs and see if that helps. Are the springs the same size when you sit them next to each other?

Yes, he left the cone out on the driver side to compensate for the usual driver side lean.

Its noticeable when looking at it from the front, but not the rear.

Honestly I would start there then and see what that does.

After that I would flip the front struts and see if that helps either. If you still can't get it level with that then I would look at trim packers, etc to level it out

I had passenger side lean, but more so in the rear. It went away when I replaced the rear shocks... are you using new or used shocks?

i have newer shocks, they are gabriel ultra, very close to the OME ones I was going to replace them with so i left them in

I thought when using the TRD strut combo that they were supposed to go on certain sides?
I may just have to go with a set of coilovers but that will take away from my lift in front.

yes i took them out, i think i will add the passenger side one back in.

I would put them both back in honestly. The coils may not be seated correctly in the buckets and will fall out if you flex much without them.

I don't know anything about the Tundra struts so I can't comment about that. I've got OME stuff in the front of mine.

i think i am going to swap the front struts and go against what everything else says to see if I can get my inch back, i have y/y on driver side and b/y on the passenger, if that doesnt work then i guess i will need to get some Bilstein adjustables.

Ok assuming your main problem is that the front L & R sides do not appear "equally level" post lift .... swap the fully assembled Front L shock + coil with the R one. Do not dissassemble to strut + shock, just swap whole thing. Those Tundra coil springs have a Left side and a Right side. Usually identified by a blue mark or a yellow mark.

I have made this mistake in the past as well :toilet:

yes i have done an alignment, and i originally put them on the right side when i first installed them so i am still unsure, if this doesnt work how adjustable are the 5100's? what increments do they adjust?

Lean

Not related to lift but may apply. I had a noticeable passenger side lean and turns out my LBJ was bad and my wheel fell off later that week. Maybe take a look at yours

Good looking out Bishard!!!! I will replace that when I replace the CV axle on that side, couldnt hurt they are the stock LBJ's

The tundra 5100s have 5 adjustments 0~2.5" lift and the Tacoma 5100s have 3 adjustments 0~2.5" lift.

I have tundras and they ride well with an arb up front. I'm about to adjust my 5100s this week so its going to get a little firmer which is just what happens when you compress the spring more.
