passenger window bashed out

Someone bashed my front pass window last nite - I think my intermittent security light popped on and scared them away, since fortunately nothing was taken. Anyway - now I gotta replace the window. It's a 96 4Runner limited w/power windows and door locks. How difficult is this to replace? I don't want to pay a shop $200 just to replace a window.

My rear window got smashed and insurance covered most of it. I only had to pay $90 for the new one with installation. If insurance covers it i would imagine it wouldnt be as much as my back window cause of the defrost and what not the rear window has. As for installing it yourself... i have no idea. Good luck!

Can't tell ya how hard it is, but the insurance part is all gonna depend on your comprehensive deductible. Mine is $500 so when my window got busted out, it was all out of pocket. I paid to have it done, but this was in winter so I really didn't have time to **** around with it.

Either route you go, make sure the shop or you know that the window is a bronze tint. I guess thats sorta rare so when they ordered mine they ordered green only to find out they had to re-order the window.

well its not hard or complecated to remover everything for your window.... but... there is no room in your door, i mean u cant get a wrench in anywhere, so thats why i hate working on windows! you can always just try it and if not. let the shop take care of it! but why not, give it a try!

Its not hard at all. AS long as you have some tools, a vacuum, and some time its no big thing. Best place to get some glass would probably be one of the recycling yards
