More than the likely 500k they've already taken in deposits over the last year? Guy on tw put down 1k in August 2017 for the 1st gen rear swingout.
I wonder how much cash they need.

They've officially filed for Chapter 7. Damn this sucks for so many people.

I feel sorry for all the guys who got caught up with this issue. I was looking around their website since one guy suggested pelfreybilt in one of the 4runner pages in FB. This totally sucks! I hope you guys get your money back, although the situation doesn’t look promising. Wow... just wow.

I wish it wasn't true.... I was rooting for them but this makes my blood boil. Being local them as well this infuriates me.

Website is still live but at least it looks like everything is listed as out of stock so no new orders can be placed

Did you pay with a CC/PayPal/or chase debit? People were saying even if you used your debit card for chase there was a chance for refund, someone also posted PayPal would refund as well as they had inquired

F*&K I'm out $3200. Karma gets everyone eventually

Just read up on it and you are right. I’m really sorry :( For those that paid cash I just read up on options and the only real option is to go through bankruptcy court and it’s highly advised against as it’s a long stressful road that most often leads to nothing as the consumer would need to have a high enough claim against the bankruptcy company to justify the time and energy that would be expended. I guess they have to pay off all the other debt (mortgages, liens, admin fees taxes) to even have a chance of getting your money back...the fees to the lawyer which this process can take several years is usually more than the claim is worth in getting your money back.

Nope. Cash. I'm screwed

This doesn’t list Pelfreybilt off-road inc as the debtor. And chapter 7 is very common for divorces. Not sure what is going on but it could also be a divorce.

Wow. Now it’s the customers fault for all this going down? Speechless.

“We love our Pelfreybiltfamily and have never had any ill intentions to wrong a single person. We do wish everyone believed this truth instead of resorting to believing we’re the horrible people they’ve painted us into. After pouring everything into Pelfreybilt and building the reputation for quality and customer service, why can’t people understand there’s something going on that’s out of our control rather than assuming the worst and defaming our character.

The unfortunate truth is that we had an amazing team of investors willing to pour a couple million into helping us thrive & as a result we had to remain quiet, so asked the #pelfreybiltfamily for their patience. However, with people feeding lies on social media, stirring up negative publicity, and opening claims on PayPal, the investors pulled out. They deemed the #pelfreybiltfamily too volatile and risky to make the investment. As a result we had no choice but to file personal bankruptcy, and lose everything. We literally poured everything into the business and have lost everything: our business, our jobs, our home, our cars and the money we loaned the business.

It’s heartbreaking to us to have given so much to the off-road community and to have built such an amazing company known for being one of the best in the industry, in just six years, yet have so many people turn their back on us and accuse us of as horrible things as fraud. All we’ve ever done is focus on providing the very best to our customers. We simply grew at a rate we struggled to keep up with, and refused to manufacture products of a lesser quality. Without capital to work with, it eventually took its toll and required investors.

Regardless, what’s done is done and feelings aside, we wish we had better news, but unless someone steps up and is willing to take over Pelfreybilt, the debt owed both to vendors and customer, we don’t see a way for our customers to get their product(s) or refunds. This is less than the ideal situation, yet it’s the reality the #pelfreybiltfamily helped create by allowing negativity to influence their decisions rather than looking at our track record and believing in us to always do what is best for our customers.

We wish each of you all the best, regardless.

Only company I know that would beat around the bush for MONTHS about what's going on (granted from a legal side they probably couldn't talk about it, but I'm not expert), to then blame customers for them going bankrupt. They should have reached out to an investor a long time ago and didn't. Waited until it was too late clearly. Maybe they trust people with 3K+ of money for 4+ months with no signs of updates/progress/shipping, etc. I sure the hell don't, and if I paid for their bumper, I wouldn't feel guilty for a second putting in a PayPal claim.

Not one apology or any acceptance of responsibility. Love is apparently enough. There's been nothing but lies and deception since June by my measure, maybe before.
100's of thousands of dollars flushed down the drain. It didn't have to be handled the way they did. Might have come out different otherwise.
There is one valid point in what was said. They have lost far more than any one of us who lost only money. A marriage most likely. Financial ruin. A livelihood they can't go back to. Much more I am sure.
However, it was family that built them, so they said, and it's the families fault they went under? Wow
Time for some introspection. Time to look within at bad business practices and extravagant expenditures. Time to take responsibility for screwing around all those employees who relied on them for a job. All those vendors who aren't getting paid. And all those customers who paid in advance to fund their business. Time to look at all the lies told out of convenience.
No one accused them of anything other than what they did. Deceive their family and waste gobs of money. Shame on us
