People with roof rack bars - how long?

Anyone have trouble with sat radio (Sirius) not working as well after a roof rack install?

I put on a set of LFD crossbars and my Sirius has gone to hell, but not sure it was immediate and need to take off the rearmost bar to see if it comes back.

Just wondering if anyone else killed their Sirius with a roof rack.

Yea, after adding the Gobi rack my XM would cut out periodically. I just let it expire because I got tired of the repetitive songs on the few stations I liked. I primarily use Pandora on my phone now.

No issues with just the Yakima crossbars mounted to the rails but, when I'm hauling my canoe that extends well both fore and aft of the "shark fin", Sirus XM gets interrupted quite a bit.

Hi there, just replaced my '01 4R with a new 2018. Now need to get a roof setup that will hold 2 SUPs and 1-2 kayaks.

Reviving an old thread - How do you like your Whispbars? Thinking of the S18 through bars (58") and K328 fit kit. I found these model nos on another post here, but all the compatibility checkers say they're not compatible with an '18 4R. Did you have any issues with install? Some pretty good deals out there on the Whispbars right now. Could go with Thule or Yakima Aerobars but would prefer to save $. Thx!

I had no problems with mine after I figured out the proper fitment bottoms to go with the towers and clips I already had from a Tacoma.

Even in 2016 I had problems with the compat checkers due to the fact Yakima had already discontinued Whispbar.

question on bar width?

so your setup is exactly what im looking to do on my 4runner. about to order some yakima aero bars and deciding on width. your skybox is: 36"w and I assume your sup is about 30". that's 66". but your bars are 54".

I want to have a roof box and my sup also and was going to get the 70"

I run the 53" Aerobars and I think they are perfect. You don't even know they are up there, virtually no loss in mpg and nowind noise. unless you want to load stuff outside the frame of the roof. Below is a picture with a loaded Skybox 16 with a 10'6" paddle board and 9' longboard on the bars. Check out the etrailer website. The usually have video reviews with most products.

When I ran this setup the cargo box and the boards both overhung the sides of the bars. It was secure for occasional use but if I was to run it often with higher $ boards I would definitely opt for something over 60”. The 70” bars you mentioned would give plenty of clearance.
