Peppy's build thread

Figured I'd finally make a build thread since I've done more and have more planned than I expected.

Traded in the Honda Element I had picked up as a temporary solution to needing cargo space for the 4Runner. Got the 4Runner because I'll be moving to Colorado in the Fall and needed something 4wd that would last a while. It has no trouble getting me to the bike trails and rock climbing spots.

How do you like that head unit? Good call on the deschutes bottle opener on the key!

Sharp eyes you've got there, lol. I love the Asteroid. The main reason I got it was because at the time it was the only he'd unit with Spotify. Everything works really well from Waze to Torque Pro. To make this unit worth it you need a good data plan with tethering. Works great with wifi or USB tether and my Nexus 5. On the latest firmware I have zero issues. The sound quality with the stock speakers is not bad. The touch screen is fast and responsive too. I've got it rooted, but I only did that to play around with non standard apps.

The wheels are Level 8 Guardians. They normally have hideous plastic/fake carbon center caps that stick out 4 inches or so. I had my buddy cnc plasma cut some aluminum rounds with holes to match up with the allen bolts. Then I had them powder coated and put some TRD stickers on them. I think it totally changes the look of the wheel for the better.

Hey man 4Runner is looking sick! How are you liking the Camburgs BJ uca's? I have them sitting at the house, just waiting to order my lift..

Great start! The Satoshi will change the whole look of the truck. It's by far one of my favorite mods.

Just got finished pressing the ball joints in. One Moog didn't want to press, but the second went in perfectly. I'm waiting on my Camburg/SAW rear springs before I install them. I'm also on the verge of ordering a CBI front bumper, so I'll have to raise the front coilovers up a little bit. Trying to minimize alignments.

The parrot HU reads AFR's?
It's the Torque Pro app running on the head unit. It reads anything off the ECU. I never looked into whether the 4Runner uses wideband O2 sensors, so I'm not sure how useful the reading would be. I like being able to monitor transmission temps though.

That FD..... :jaw: ......

I hope you didn't have to get rid of that!

The FD no longer exists. I parted it out right down to the shell. It was my dream car growing up. It was amazing on the track, miserable on the street. My favorite part was striping it down and completely rebuilding it from the suspension up. Parting it out was my least favorite part.

I'm really happy with the Fox 2.0's. I wanted to go with something a little different since everyone goes with the 5100's. They are triple the price, but can be rebuilt. On road they are great, much better feel than the stock XREAS. Highway driving is much more stable and less floaty. The all aluminum shock bodies are really nice and well finished too. Definitely quality pieces for the price. If've only done some light off-roading so far, but they have been great. I've got a set of SAW 1.5 rear springs on the way which I believe will be a better match than the Moog FJ's.

Cool man ,, yeah i've heard that the moog bj's can be a little funny sometimes when pressing them.I'm in the same boat i'm waiting to do everything all at once!

So yesterday i ordered the TRS Retro-quik projectors(becuase they have a 15% off everything sale right now) and I was about to order a set of Mini D2S projectors to put in place of the high beams but stopped and decided to go with my original plan. I ordered two Morimoto x.Pod2. They are 3.5x1.75 and should fit easily in the 4in opening where the high beam reflector is. I'd already checked with the guys are TRS to make sure heat wise they would be ok to put inside the headlights. I got dual spot beams in each. If I get the CBI bumper I'll remove the blinker/DRL from the headlights and get the LED blinker option on the bumper.

I'm also thinking about this LED light bar Black Box Logistics - H Series

I know it's made in China but it has some nice features and the Jeep guys that buy from Black Box have been pleased with the quality from their source so far. I like that you can have just spots, just floods or combo on. I also like that there is a wireless switch. I'll definitely wait till they have a sale, but this same model on ebay is way more expensive.

Just ordered a CBI front bumper. Base 2006-2009 bumper with turn signals added and powder coated black. Nathan said he'll have it started next week and it should be ready in about 3-4 weeks

Finally seeing someone with Fox 2.0 coilovers! Looks good.

Everywhere i look online, it's listed to lift up to 2". So you got 3" out of yours?
