Performance Chips

I'm not sure if it would be considered a "performance chip," but I've read about this "chip" that plugs into your computer, takes your readings, you send it in, and within 72 hours, they (the company) expresses it back to you, and ya plug it in and it is supposed to give multiple gains. Check it out for yourself...
Performancecenter.com Look for JET Custom Computer Upgrades. That is all I've come across so far.

ive heard that they make them, and there are companys that will do it, but i heard the gains are not all that impressive.

And to propperly "chip" your vehicle, it really should be thrown on a dyno and the company should have the car on-hand...

Doing it that way, is appx $500 though...

Simply put, chips for a 3rd gen 4Runner are a waste of money. The ebay ones look like a good deal but basically give no performance gains. Jet chips will give you a little boost, but the price is too high to justify the 5hp gain.

Opening the airbox gives you more power than those chips do and that doesn't cost a thing.

Avoid chips,Tornadoes and throttle body spacers;all are a waste of $$$ and don't do what they promise.

Thorton Performance Chip

I got one of these chips. I immediately felt a improvement on throttle response and added power. Maybe its placebo affect, i did not have i dyno tested, I am keeping my chip for it makes a big difference on my V8 4runner.

This is a new record for me personally. Almost 15 years since the last post AND you don't even own a 3rd gen. I'm impressed
