You guys are all wrong.
The V8 in the 4R and Land Cruiser are made in Japan and the connecting rods are forged.
The V8 in the Sequoia and Tundra are made in the USA with cast connecting rods.
There never was a reported failure in a 4R or Land Cruiser with either the transmissions or the engines.
Get your facts straight.
The debate was never over the material of the rods. Simply their inability to handle the increased pressure.
