Hey does anyone out there have any high performance spark plugs and wires on a 4.0L V-6 4Runner? I came from the dealer and they told me I cant use iridium plugs because the check engine light will come on and do damage. Can anyone help? It will be a big help!

:iagree: with the above posts.

There are no spark plug wires for the 1GR-FE. It is a direct ignition system(distributor less) design and the coil packs are directly above the plugs.

Sorry I didn't elaborate earlier, I don't see how a spark plug can cause a check engine light, unless it's not "sparking" which would cause a misfire. Basically causing the gas in the cylinder not to ignite. Just because you get a different "type or material" doesn't mean it will have issues. Just make sure to set your gap properly.

I hope this helps you out better! If I'm wrong I hope someone will chime in here!

Thanks I really love this site as you get alot of in put!! any I went with twin tip Denso Iridium's and the truck runs faster and gained a little mpg. I also saved as I changed them myself. I still dont know why the dealer told me not to use them. Again thanks for the help!
