Performance Upgrades for S/C 4Runner?

So, 2 1/2 years later I've reached the end of my performance upgrades list for my 4Runner, sad day . I've listed most of what I've done in my signature below, but I've also got the Airaid intake, and deckplate mod on there.

I'm happy with the supercharger and 2.1" pulley with meth injection, not looking to change anything there. Wanted to put that out there before someone says "slap a turbo on it". But, any other modifications worth doing on our engines (smog laws apply) to help out performance?

I've ruled out headers due to cost and time (mostly time), since it's my daily driver.

are headers really that hard to install? everyone seems to complain about them but they say its easier to install with a body lift. my idea probably not feasible would be to undo the body mount bolts then lift up the body a little so you can have the room you would with a body lift

Headers, full exhaust, full intake are your only bolt on mods left. Headers I believe can be installed with lifting the motor a bit. Really not as hard as it sounds.

If timing belt needs to be changed, another option to consider is the lightweight URD aluminum crank pulley. Once intake, headers, exhaust, and crank pulley go on there's nothing left to do. I had all of the above on my 00 sport. Including the no longer produced URD 2.0" pulley. All of which made small differences in throttle response. I wish I had dynod it prior to selling. The last Dyno was 242 rwhp on the 2.1" pulley without the headers, exhaust and crank pulley.

Full exhaust and full intake are out, not smog compliant in CA. Can't touch the intake unless I want a pre-made K&N or something like that, and can't touch anything before the cat and after the headers, so it's sort of pointless.

I guess headers are really all that's left then huh on the big stuff?

I guess its time to get a car for power/speed and graduate the 4runner from performance mods.

Oh, I should have prefaced the thread with that I love the 4Runner. I'm not looking for a track monster or a supercar, I just love building up my 4Runner. It's very capable off-road and now very capable on-road. Not looking for anything crazy, I just like working on it and building it up more and more over time and enjoy learning working on new things. It's more of the thought that I have nothing left on it to work on that bums me. I love how it drives right now.

Except for transmissions. That was a bit of mistake that thankfully worked out in the end.

Very small difference. Similar to an intake or exhaust. Bang for the buck much better than headers...

I doubt there are any CARB emissions restrictions. It's not an underdrive pulley and does not affect the supercharger ratio.

Oh, I should have prefaced the thread with that I love the 4Runner. I'm not looking for a track monster or a supercar, I just love building up my 4Runner. It's very capable off-road and now very capable on-road. Not looking for anything crazy, I just like working on it and building it up more and more over time and enjoy learning working on new things. It's more of the thought that I have nothing left on it to work on that bums me. I love how it drives right now.

You could get a custom high stall TQ converter. Would help with getting power down at launch. Just a thought.

Seems like you're being stingy if you're already running that setup, and want more. HA! JK

Sell the supercharger and put a turbo on it. Def make more power.

Swap gearing, reduce weight, lighter wheels\tires, and maybe a 5 speed swap.
