Photo request: 3rd gen Limited without running boards

I took mine off tonight. I all ready like the look of my truck without them on. I do know that when my mom comes back into town, she'll have trouble getting in, since she used them everytime!
I used a 1/2'' socket, make sure it's nice and skinny though, because the bolts nearest the front of the car have a metal surround that a fat socket wont be able to fit in.

I am considering removing the running boards on my '99 Limited.
If I take them off, can I expect a lot of dirt or any paint chipping on the front door because there are no mud flaps?
Has anyone removed the running board and added a mud flap behind the front wheels?
I like the look of no running board and no mud flap but I do not want to sacrafice my paint to get it.

I know this isn't the best picture to see the flap, but to give you an idea of how well they keep crap off the side of my car, I had been driving through slushy/sticky snow for hours and had basically no buildup on my lower cladding. They cost like 11 bucks at Advanced Auto, and I just used the existing bolts to mount them. One of the best mods I have done for under 20 bucks
