The other great side effect is that the tripod gave me a bit more of a "pro look" which people seemed to respect at least slightly more than me crouched a foot from a car for 15 mins at a time waiting for the crowd to clear. Absolutely using that method again!

Yee was I stoked to find this thread. I'm newer here, and have only had my 4runner a little over a month, but photography has always been my favorite thing and I have to say all of your pictures have completely inspired me to get my butt out the door and go "shoot" stuff. :biggrin2:

In the past couple of months I've tried starting a photography business and I've done a few shoots but where I live we have like a three photographers on every block (it's ridiculous.) Damn stepping the game up a bit here lately, some great pics being posted.

I'm guilty of this as well, but it would be great if we could all post some "exif data".



So anyway the other day I picked up a box of old filters mostly for some 49mm stuff for my older Minolta primes. In with the ordinary stuff though was a star filter that I was playing with tonight.

that filter is too much fun!

and so I don't look like a hypocrite

I just bought my first DSLR and went with the Nikon D7000! Battery is charging right now. I'm headed on a trip to Switzerland this week, so I'm stoked to play with it in the Alps. After that, you can guarantee I'll be getting all sorts of Colorado/4Runner pics. Pretty excited to finally have a strong camera!

Update: this is fuuuun. I no longer have to go through stupid tricks to make my camera do what I want it to! The controls still feel a bit cumbersome, but that'll go away with time and as the engrained Canon menus fade out of my mind. Anyway, here's the best thing I came up with on day 1!

That's cool! I assume those are satellite trails in there, cool how you can see the change in direction... very precise. However, wtf is that little green blip in the middle? ! Aliens.

Most of them are airplanes, but there could be some satellites in there. Not sure what the green is lol. Maybe we aren't alone???

Anyone ever used a Canon SX50 HS? I'm looking at getting a new camera soon but I need to keep it under $400 total. I want RAW capability, stabilization, high quality video with possible slo-mo.

I don't know anything about the Canon in questions, but a quick google search vs the similar priced Sony that I was going to recommend you take a look at found this link:

and of course you could get a lot more for your money (from any manufacturer) if you decided to go used as well.
