Wow those are some great pictures! What camera are you using? And last night we got to about -10 I think.

[MENTION=102285]541joseph[/MENTION] thank you. i have a Canon 6D and these were shot using the 16-35mm f/2.8L lens. both shot prob around f/11 im guessing.
-10 in OR is pretty crazy, i lived in Gresham a short time during the winter and dont remember it ever getting even close to that cold.

Woohoo! Been playing around with this camera quite a lot and I love it!
The camera (taken with my iPhone 4S):
This is one of the blurrier and noiser pictures I have gotten. This is in full manual. Still getting the hang of things on the first night of ownership.
I took this one today. I love the contrast of the dog treat bag amongst the relatively boring white background. Shot manually.
Also took this one today. The shadow of the blinds adds to it i think. This is my 3 year old Gordon Setter, Bailey, sunbathing in the living room. Shot Manually
The nameplate on my laptop. Crisp photo, and very in focus. Shot manually. I can't remember the specs. (Yes the dog hair is courtesy of Bailey!)
The first picture I took. Auto Focus, Auto mode. Fully Automatic.
Bailey blinked! Shot manually!
Crispy, dry indoor vegitation. Shot in a scene mode, but manual focus and zoom. Flash on.
That's all for now. I'm continuing to learn, and read the bible/owners manual and take more pictures. Thanks for giving me the final push to get into this hobby!

I haven't looked into it lately and can't remember exactly, but the problem with the 600 was something along the lines of the sensor fogging slightly due to some oil used or not used. Lots of users were reporting it while others had no problems whatsoever.
Sorry I read up when the 610 first came out so my memory isn't fresh, my understanding was that the 610 is virtually identical except that the problem is solved.

Yeah, the supposed issue is oil on the sensor. I've had my D600 almost a year now and haven't noticed a single problem. Honestly, I think it's one of those things that got totally blown out of proportion on the internet. Probably happened to a few people early in the production run and when they posted about it on forums like dpreview a bunch of other guys went to take pics of a white card (because that's a totally real-world thing to photograph) and any speck they saw they were convinced was an oil spot. On top of that there was probably a lot of astroturfing going on from rival manufacturers. From there sales on the D600 started to decline so Nikon quickly made a couple changes to the camera and put it out as the D610 as damage control.
Here's a video the shop I buy my gear from did that sums it up nicely.

I'm personally glad it happened, D600 bodies have dropped pretty dramatically in price. I've been considering buying one soon and making the switch to full frame.

Yeah I've been afraid of the used market if I ever upgrade. The D600 is a good camera and got great reviews. It's lighter than the D800 and you don't have to deal with the larger file sizes. The only downside to going to full frame is that you'll want to replace all your DX lenses for FX, which isn't cheap.

I took this today, just while getting some pictures of my friend's car before we start doing work on it. If someone would be so kind as to show me what can be done to a picture like this I'd be very appreciative, I have no idea what I can do to make this look better. There's always HDR, but I'm not very good with that myself, anything else? Thanks! And here is the full sized image link:

Not sure there's a whole lot that can be done with it. One thing I did was to take the color out of the excavator. You want your eyes to go to the car and not that piece of machinery in the background and since most of the color is the snow, the yellow of it stands out like a sore thumb.
