we finally had a moonless/clear night/on a weekend/when I wasn't tired. the moon wasn't rising until 12:40am and the Milky Way rose around 10:30pm so I hopped in my car and drove east of Denver. Normally I would go to the mtns or some where but I had to work until 9pm and I didn't want to run out of time. This is what I love about Colorado, I only had to go about 30mins east to see this beaut.
I drove to the Strasburg exit then turned back west on Colfax looking for a shot location. I drove past this truck a few times to make sure no one lived here. it was located on some land next to a giant shed. On google maps satellite it looked like there was another building located behind the shed further from the street but I wasn't able to see it(this is where really dark windows sucks). After a few trips up and down the street I decided to turn in to the driveway and hope I didn't get shot by a farmer. I walked around the shed to see there was no other buildings or anyone else around. Spent about 45mins here before all of the noises and darkness crept me out, plus the moon was going to come up shortly and drown it out.

I used a high power (too high powered) LED light to light paint the foreground. since it was too bright I had to set it to its dimmest setting and use a shirt to dim it down even more.

the sky was still showing off so I decided to snap one more on my drive home

Last weekend, my wife and I spent the weekend in our favorite spot in Colorado (where we got married last July)…Crested Butte.

The wildflowers are starting to bloom and with all the moisture they've received (both snow and rain), the area is just FLUSH with lush green!!!!

make sure to check the moon schedule. a free app I use (iPhone) is Luna Solaria. it has the moon phases/rise/set time. nice little app to make sure you get a dark sky.

there is another one called TPE but it cost $9. it has a ton more info and better mapping.

Stephen (developer of TPE and PhotoTransit) just released TPE 3D this week. TPE 3D is absolutely NUTS…allows you to literally stand at a location and see how the light will illuminate your subject (or how the Milky Way will appear in your composition [using enhanced mode]). This a pretty amazing tool and well worth the $$ (IMO).

Good photo and definitely appreciate you posting, but if possible could you avoid uploading via taptalk in the future? They seem to load oversized pictures for whatever reason.

And you have to say SOOC. Then you'll sound more legit. Stands for straight out of camera.

Hey guys I have a number of jpegs that got corrupted during a transfer. The original files are no longer available. Can you point me to a utility, or way of bringing those files back, if that's possible? Thanks

I have the corrupted jpeg files on a hard drive. I just can't open them. I can open the others jpegs, just handfull is not cooperating.
I get a message of "the picture format is not recognizable" on the corrupted files. I can't view them, Photoshop can't open them and renaming doesn't work.
I thought I bring this up on here just in case anyone here experienced this and how they solved it. Thanks
