is anyone going to shoot the eclipse? I will be in Nebraska for it, not sure yet if I will attempt to take pictures or just enjoy the experience.
August in Colorado means giant sunflower fields.
on this trip it was starting to sprinkle, plus they were watering them. I almost busted my a$$ a couple times slipping in the mud. the edit of the sky turned out more purple then I had wanted. I have since re-calibrated my monitor
here is a video I shot with both a GoPro 4 and DJI Phantom 3 drone. I don't do much video editing so this was all done in the GoPro software.

Couple more from a recent trip to Crested Butte area:
Finally had an opportunity to hike Trail 403 from Washington Gulch side to just above Gothic Natural Area trailhead. Definitely prefer STARTING on the Gothic Natural Area side (so the return trip is predominantly downhill! LOL):

Last day there, we took a chance on getting up & over Schofield Pass, to the field on the north side of the summit (for wildflowers). There is definitely a lot of slide activity and debris strewn about, which would be why the Forest Service has not updated their website for access (though the gate that was there prior, was no longer!
). The road up, past Emerald Lake is skinny to start, but with the slide activity, the road was even skinnier than normal. Fortunately, only had one instance on the downhill, where i had to make room for another vehicle!

This past Sunday morning I packed up my RTT, lots of food, extra gas along with lots of patience and drove up to the Pawnee National Grasslands on the Colorado/Nebraska/Wyoming border for some camping. We were expecting large crowds but there was literally less than 15 other campers in the whole grassland. We were able to camp 100 yards from the trail head. It was a warm day and a perfectly clear night. Monday morning we packed up by 7:30am and blasted down all of the dirt roads through the park and found our way in to Wyoming on I80. While everyone else went towards Cheyenne we headed east to Scottsbluff, NE. All we heard all week was about traffic nightmares but we did 70-80mph all the way in to town. We found a spot in a grass field and by 10am we were all set up.
seeing 100% totality was beyond worth all of the driving and stress before the trip. when you are able to remove your dorky eclipse glasses and stare at it for that brief moment :biggrin1:
unfortunately I was so excited when the eclipse happened, after removing the filter on my camera I think I adjusted the focus and got a lot of blurry shots. Here are a couple pics I took:
I have since re-done this image. I lined them up better. Then I made each one get 10% bigger than the previous until the eclipse.
the drive home was much of the same, we didn't hit hardly any traffic and back in Denver area by 5pm. Those who went to Casper, WY were treated to an 11 hour drive back to Denver.

That is why we took our photos and camped out on Storm Mountain (near Drake, CO). We bypassed everything else by taking the mountain roads all the way down to Morrison. We spent the night with cousins in Castle Rock. Still need to go through all the pictures we got on that trip. Sometimes the day job gets in the way of those things.
