Hi everyone,

I'm a new member on the forum; I bought a '15 4Runner SR5 a few weeks back, and have used this site to do quite a bit of research. I've really been appreciative of having such a great resource for finding info on the truck and accessories, so thanks to everyone for the insights.

I wanted to do my part and add to the site by providing a couple of photos of an accessory that I couldn't find many photos of on the forum: the CargoLiner Ultimate Pet Liner. I bought this setup (part number 109353) because it offered full protection of the plastics (sidewalls and wheel arches) in the back of the truck from the dog's claws, and also covered the 2nd row seat backs, which serves the additional purpose of protecting them from skis, etc.

My truck does have the 3rd row of seats, but I don't plan to use them often, so they are covered redundantly with the rear OEM plastic mat on top of the CargoLiner. That said, the first photo shows the split that allows them to be popped up independently. The kit comes with a piece of vinyl that covers that gap.

I did purchase the tailgate cover and bumper cover as well, both of which are optional. The bumper cover is great; the dog can jump in on his own, and I don't sweat him scratching up the painted top portion of the bumper. It also works great if you want a clean surface to sit on when putting on ski boots, etc. I fold it up and place it on the cargo mat when not in use.

Installation uses a lot of small pieces of velcro (supplied), and while the fit on the seats is good, the sidewall pieces aren't super taught. That said, it still looks like it will provide some good protection from the pup. It's been in the truck for a week, with a couple of days in the high 70s/low 80s, and everything is holding just fine so far. I went with the dark grey color, and it's a good match to the black Softex on the seats, so the vinyl that wraps over the top of the 2nd row seats blends in relatively well.

Did you buy this from the actual manufacture website or off of Amazon? I want to buy one but I am not sure what the item Amazon includes. Did you get the extra padding by the way?

To answer a few questions:

Their website says it is "heavy-duty, non-slip vinyl." I believe it has a fabric backing (the white you can see in the first photo of the OP). It seems relatively durable in the short time I have had it; skis and other gear haven't cut it or left any sort of permanent marks or indentions yet.

I also heavily considered the CanvasBack product, but I liked that this was vinyl rather than fabric...it seemed like it might be less prone to having dog hair "stick" due to the smooth surface, rather than the textured fabric surface that the CanvasBack looked to have. That said, the dog has only been in the truck once since I installed it, and he sat on a blanket on the OEM cargo mat, which covered the liner. I am hoping that the OEM cargo mat will catch the majority of his hair and dirt. I bought the 3rd row more for future needs, so I can get away with having the mat cover the seats. I'll try to watch for the hair on the side panels - and see if the static electricity makes it stick.

In addition to the dog, I also thought this product was nice for hauling gear. Prevents the wheel humps from getting scratched when loading camping gear, plastic totes, etc. in the back.

The liner doesn't cover the rear doors. It ends at the rear edge of the door opening:

I do like that this wraps over the tops of the seats, so if the pup decides to try to climb over (which he occasionally does), the tops of the seats have a little protection. This is also seemed good to catch any slobber when he has his snout hang over the top of the seat, looking toward the front of the truck. Almost like a top-cap for the seats. I sat in the back seat after the install, and the material doesn't seem thick enough to make the seat uncomfortable.

I have a camping trip coming up soon; I'll try to add more to the thread and let everyone know how it held up.

Does any dirt get underneath? I've noticed it looks like the canvasback holds better to the carpet than that of this liner. Are they all separate peices, like for example, are the backs of the chairs connected to that of the cargo liner parts? I noticed the sides don't look attached...I wonder how much it holds up from camping as this will be my primary use for this liner.

Any information on how this stuff heats up when the car is off sitting in the sun, does it get hot like leather does or more like the softex it stays cooler?
Also curious if it gets warm while driving the car?

I ran this same liner in my FJ for several years and never noticed any issues with heat or it getting hot to the touch - even when we were in Grand Canyon and Moab in June. Doesn't mean it didn't, but you'd think if it were an issue I would have noticed. It was a fantastic product and I never had any complaints with it. I might get one down the road for my 4Runner. The black plastic in the FJ/4Runner is very soft and scratches if you look at it too hard so it really helped prevent that.
