PIAA 510 installing

installed Piaa 510 55w lights in my bumper, I am doing the wiring now but have a couple questions.

I am using the piaa wiring harness which is simple enough, I have the relay and fuse close to the positive battery terminal, using the same ground the battery grounds to.

I am debating what to do with the white wire that provides switched power to the light switch? the wire that Piaa says to tap into the high beam headlight wire.
I have an add a fuse and 10 amp fuse, can I use this in any open fuse location that is switched power? or should I use a location that already has a fuse there. I am assuming I can add it to the cig lighter fuse?

There is not much power going through this wire correct?

I do not really understand the point of it, but I would like my piaa lights to work regardless of headlights being on or not, I don't mind if they need running lights on or not

+12V for the lights should come from the battery, as you have already done (through the relay).

For the power to the coil that triggers the relay, you can tap off basically anything you want, and you really don't even need an extra fuse (it will be part of a fused circuit already and won't draw significant power in normal operation).

Do you want them available anytime, accessory power, ignition power, with parking lights, with low beams, with high beams, with both low and high but not parking, etc? From there, we can point you to a wire that you can tap as the power for the switch and relay coil.

I personally have my spots wired to be available anytime, but this is a bit risky if you ever think you might leave them on accidentally.

That wire hookup is optional, only if you want the switch lighted. If so, Piaa says headlight wire so the switch light only gets power when the headlights turn on.

But what is turning the relay on? Usually a relay goes to switched power so the output power isn't On all the time and one doesn't forget to shut it off because it's switched power like say the ignition. Luck and enjoy the Runner. :cowboy:

I went for the gold, saw an empty fuse opening next to the ACC fuse under the dash. I picked up a ATM add-a-fuse and 10amp fuse from Autozone, it works! with key turned to at least accessory.
I was gonna use the ACC slot and add circuit but this open slot worked. I think I may have been complicating it for myself, just needed some assurance before hooking battery back up

I did test the add-a-fuse in both orientations and only one way worked, with just the 10amp fuse in the HHH as instructed on the add a fuse box.

my finding is the right side the fuse slots are powered.
