PIAA lights

Hey guys,

Quick question...When the time comes that a Bull bar/grill guards are available for the 4runner...and we install PIAA (or any other) auxillary lights, what controls those lights to switch on/off?...in other words, would it be when you switch on the standard fog lights or when you switch your low beams on?

I think Harper installed his own switch buttons for them..which is pretty badass...i wonder how much trouble (and $$$) that would be for a body shop...

anyone know?

I know when I had my 07, I installed a Westin Bullbar and a set of Hella lights on it. I bought a FJ fog light button from toyota and installed it in one of the switch blanks on the dash. It looked completely stock and the button even was backlit like the rest of the factory buttons.

I hope to do the same thing and install some foglights in the same spot that Harper7 did. I love that look!
I don't know if the FJ button will fit in the '10 4runner though.

The lights usually have their own switch (the PIAAs come with one). And you can tie that switch into the high beams or something so that with the switch on te lights only come on with the high beams. You can really tie in to anything. I'm thinkg I'm just going to use the parking lights, as long as I can find the wire that doesn't flash when you lock the doors.

I'm going to pretty much copy what Harper did with his lights. PIAA 510s with a Toyota factory fog light switch from eBay. It's pretty easy to do yourself, even if wires and electricity scare you

I'll do a more complete write up when I get around to wiring them, but it won't be for a few weeks.

Ryan - please do so. I'd like to do this too. The electrical stuff is cake - but it seems I recall that Harper had to disassemble a lot of his front bumper to do his install. That, I'm not too keen on.

I'm not real excited about taking the bumper off either. But a few people have done it, and I'm sure it's much easier when it's new than after a few salty winters.
