Pic request and opinions?

I'm saving for wheels on my nautical blue runner. I know it isn't the most common color but I have seen some nice ones but most have black wheels on them. This whole time I thought I wanted black wheels as well but now I'm curious of how chrome wheels would look. I plasti dipped the chrome on the runner so I feel like it would contrast and actually look good with the right wheels. I'm really interested in the chrome method standards. But anyway, I've searched and I just can't find anything so if you've seen one like what I'm describing or have an opinion please chime in!

I really like the looks of the 07ish FJ wheels, but I wanted something different. I took them to get powder coated flat black, should have them back Monday. I was originally going to get gunmetal, but the closest color the shop had was black chrome and I didn't like that. I painted the center caps flat black plastidip then cut the pd off the Toyota log with a exacto knife with a new blade. I'll post photos when I get them back.

I was in the same boat as you when I was looking for wheels. I really liked the FJ gunmetal ones but couldn't find any. Black wheels look good, but I think gunmetal looks better with dark blue personally. The Gunmetal Konig six-shooter would look great with our color I think, but I got a great deal on my 5th ten sr5 wheels. They have a machined spoke and gunmetal/silver on the inside of the spoke. I actually like them a whole lot more than I had originally thought. I'm thinking about painting or powder coating them some sort of gunmetalish color but I don't have the time right now. I think the polished Method NV's would look good too with our color. By the way, is it me or is this color a total b*tch to keep clean. I know black is bad too but coming from silver and red cars this thing is impossible to keep clean haha.

Um, you know that we have two pic threads with a TON of 4th gen T4R photos with a wide variety of wheels... If you are willing to take the time and look at them:

Have fun.

Thanks I'll check out the wheels you mentioned and I do also like the 5th gen wheels on yours. And YES this color is so hard to keep clean I don't even bother anymore haha I let the rain handle it and wash it occasionally.

Haha yes I do know about these 2 and I look at them religiously. I'm pretty sure I've looked at about every page in the lift one. It's just like I said, blue isn't the most common color in the bunch. Thanks though!

Well since you said you were looking for opinions, here's mine...

I also have a Nautical Blue 4runner and will be buying aftermarket wheels for it so I've been having the same debate. I have seen a number of Nautical Blue 4runners with Black rims and IMO, black wheels on a Nautical Blue 4runner looks like shit. I would go with almost any other color.

I wouldn't do chrome cause I'm not into bling and because they are more work to take care of. My favorite color wheels for the Nautical Blue 4runners is in the Silver/Anthracite/Gunmetal Gray range. Just nothing too dark (Some "gunmetal" products are so dark that they look more black then gray). Here's a Nautical Blue runner with some Gunmetal Gray MK6's wheels...

I think that even the right shade of Bronze can look good. Not a 4runner but you get the idea...

+1 on Bronze. That is a nice look to me. I also agree with the anthracite to. I have those on my stratoshpere mica which is also blue but I dont think its as dark. I'll try to post a pic when my phone comes back up.

And just for extra consideration here's a nautical blue with the tundra xsp enkei 20's I think they are polished aluminum

Something different?

Here's a different idea that somebody here (I think) has already tried: Get some FJC Steelies (the kind with the round holes) and paint them white. Someone here has a dark blue 4runner with exactly this combo and it looks awesome. I think the thread is called "FJC Steelies" or something.

I've got FJC steelies, too, but on my maroon (Salsa Red Pearl) they look better in black.

Anthracite gray

I am definitely leaning toward gunmetal/anthracite and bronze now. I've seen bronze on some others but didn't really like it. But that tacoma up there is convincing. And I like these wheels!

Heres a few of mine with Anthracite gray rims etc, still need to make time for door badges.

The Trail Edition wheels on the newer 4runners (5th Gen) are badass on Nautical Blue...Here're mine on my Dorado Gold:

They look fantastic on the blues with a darker hue (anthracite, bronze, etc.)
