Picked it up today

Hi guys,

Picked up a 2008 Sport V8 with 79k on the clock. It was a great find, but now I am going to be having a bunch of questions. There will be a build thread AFTER I make sure everything is 110%. I am coming from a stock 2001 GMC Z71 4x4 5.3L. Its my first SUV and my first yota, so bear with me.

I plan on keeping this vehicle for a long time, lifting it, rims/tires, suspension, but before I get there, I have to fix/maintain some things, make sure Im good to go.

Extended warranty? Im thinking yes, done my research, and for 5 yr 85k mi it seems like a no brainer (yota replac parts by dealer), gotta read fine print but if I lift doesnt that negate my warranty?

Brakes, test drive went fine. Put it thru its paces on n off road. Drove it 2 hr home, after about an hour of highway driving traffic stops, I go to jump on the brakes and she isnt pulling but is pulsating, abs kicked in. I know yota doesnt warranty this, dealer is going to tell me screw, thoughts? Best to take care of problem now and be done with it?

Besides a tranny flush, diff/transfer case fluid change, a tune up @100k, undercoating of some kind to keep rust away, what else would you guys suggest? I dont mind paying for quality up front, as long as its worth it vs OEM.

I will also be driving this on the beaches of the east coast from NJ to Mass.

With my old Z71, if I air down, it will just about go anywhere. Trouble was, with 10-12 psi, the skid plates on the undercarriage would plow a little sand ( 285/75R16).

My new ride is already a lot lower than my old Z71. What would I need to get my 08 sport V8 to have the clearance plus an inch of the 01 Z71?

I really like the look of the TRD wheels in gunmetal, and because its going on the beach, probably will run the Michelin LTX, maybe BFG AT, in load range C, as it wont be towing, wont be getting extra weight up front or out back, Im thinking 285 is about the right size, but am really just guessing on that.

Thoughts?

what's wrong with your brakes? I thought pulsating was normal for abs. As for service all that sounds plus you might to look into a timing belt.

I would look into toytec lifts. 285 would need to hack off body mounts and inner plastics

Ya know when ya hit the brakes at speeds say above 65mph and the brakes "feel" like they shake? Usually means there is either rotor, caliper, pad, maybe line/pressure concerns. I knew ahead of time the darn things are prone to rusting/freezing ;-)

If I am going to build this thing, it can stay in the garage til done, so when i am it I might as well address the caliper issue, maybe more if warranted.
