Picked up a 06 4Runner Limited V8

Gorgeous truck! I have the same thin in an 08' and white.

Make sure 4LO works. If not it could be an electric actuator problem and a costly fix.

Also, listen for a tick on cold starts, this could be a sign of small cracks in your exhaust manifolds - also an expensive fix and very very limited aftermarket options.

I got lucky and got the 4LO actuator fixed uner warranty when I first bought it but I'm stuck with the manifold problem now for myself to fix when I find the time and money.

I'm not even sure how my M3 picture ended up in here loool. Must have copied the wrong link. Those are actually Satin Black Arc-8 wheels made by Apex Race. They are track wheels and pretty light weight. Love the car though. Its my baby with only 22k miles and is absolutely mint :frisky:

I just went out to try the 4LO. All I see is 4LO flashing. I put the truck in neutral and then put it in 4LO. Is it supposed to flash? When I put it in Drive, there is a loud beeping sound.

I also tried the center diff and that seems to engage and VSC turns off.

Finally got 4LO to work. I hate to leave the trunk in neutral for like 45 secs before it engaged. Now it will go in almost immediately! Sweet. Happy now lol

Expensive but worth it. Its and '06 with low milage, looks mint, and great color. Really jealous! :flipoff:

Haha thanks! You think these typically go for less with the miles it has, V8 and limited. Interested to hear since I was trying to look for comps. Either way im happy

Congrats on the rig! Love that engine, you are really going to appreciate the 1) sound but 2) the low end torque of that baby. Excited to see what you do with it, especially with such low miles that truck has a fantastic life ahead of it!!

Thanks! The engine is so smoooooth. Such a great truck and loving it so far. Hope it lasts a while and I think I will get some good use to it in the Minnesota winter.

My wife will mostly be driving it and now I'm wondering what type of tires will fare well with the winter/snow. Do you guys recommend having a separate set of dedicated snow tires or will a certain type work well for all year in Minnesota. I believe they have Michelin Cross Terrain tires on them now

Good! Sounds like you dodged a bullet. Sometimes they can freeze when not used. A common practice of forum members is to engage 4LO once a month or at least once with every oil change to prevent costly repairs.

Like I said - that and the manifolds on the V8 are the only 2 achilles heels. Other than that mine has been pretty bullet proof for the year and change I have owned it.

I paid $15,500 for my V8 with 78K miles back in 2010 here in Florida. Price doesn't seem to depreciate much with these. Have fun!

Are you talking about the M3? Either way thanks. I've done a few things with her but rarely drive her even though its a blast to drive. I baby it way to much.

The 4Runner should see some good usage. The wife will mostly drive it as she will need it to go back and forth to work at the hospital in the minnesota winters. I'm sure I'll put it to go use too. I just need to make sure I get proper tires

Good question, with my 04 I had Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armors and before I traded it for my TDI I almost purchased the Revo A/T. They both offered a good on road performance, but really shined when it was serving as a work truck for our farms. The only time I got stuck, stuck was when I got it buried up to the doors in mud- and even if I had the serious Duratracs you see on here, I would have been just as stuck.

I never thought about getting dedicated Blizzaks like I have on my TDI, but I guess you could if it is going to be a DD and on the highway most of the time and swapped for highway-focused all seasons like the Michelins. My parents had a Navigator for a while and they used Dueler tires religiously for everything, really can't beat those for all season all situation performance, even in deep ass snow.
