Picked up an Urban Runner, have some Questions

I am happy to say that after a long time of searching for the a SE I found an 2008 Urban Runner, with 60K. The truck runs great good service history, never towed all the things you want from a used 4R. I am not planning on modding it yet, I only have plans for HIDs, tint the front windows and give it a good buff.

My other car is a 6speed Allroad 2.7T with coilovers and software, its been a nice change driving something with cushy suspension for a change, not having to fear hitting a bump in the road. I am still a "car" guy but need the utility/reliability of the 4runner so I can focus swaping a subaru motor into my old beetle.

I have some questions

How do I know if I have a Class 4 hitch?

I have Bridgestone Dueller A/Ts on the truck now, with a matching spare are these the oem tires that came on the truck?

How soft/hard is the clearcoat on these, my wife has an 07 camry and is it the same? I have a good process for pulling swirls out of the Camry so I can take that method and use it on my 4R


I have read so much on this forum for the past 6 months, it's been really helpful in my search for the 4R

there should be a hitch rating stated on the tow hitch itself, if not the capacity is listed in your manual.

yes those are the factory original tires, at least the brand and size and tread pattern they may be replacements of the original I can't speak for there age.

The paint question about clear coat depends upon the color vehicle you have for instance white 4runners don't have a clear coat its a single layer paint. however even with the white a good wax every few months keeps the shine very pristine

I would be confident in your method's used on your camary I believe the black has a clear coat as well toyota's paint has proved to be of great quality

Welcome an congrats on the 4r :yo: I myself purchased a 4r over the Allroad, I parked the Allroad in the gargage. Same as you had the air suspension taken out and did the APR tune and everything else imaginable to that car, Allroads have many issues and is very costly, needed something reliable and trouble free, so far the 4r has passed the test...oh and the ride is soooo much better in the 4r.

Sadly I think I am going to sell the Allroad, my wife doesn't understand the need for 3 cars. :director:

The only issue I have with a 4R is that I have only owned 1 automatic vehicle ever, and that only lasted for 3 months, it was a 2001 Maxima a few years ago. I am a 3 pedal guy and really miss driving stick.

I have a black UR 08 also. i would strongly recommend doing the fj swap/bilstein 5100…i did this and it is amazing. rides like it should. i am currently looking for a replacement nav unit for the horrible tom tom that came stock. i bought a curt hitch off amazon most of the hitches that come with the 4runner are just crossmember hitches which aren’t really worth a darn. i installed airbags in the coils when i did the switch to fj suspension because i tow a trailer with quads to the sand dunes quite often. i just used the airlift kit that came with a compressor and installed the compressor in the rear passenger side compartment with the inflator/gauge in the middle console. i love the thing to death and cant wait to get another 95k miles on it. the only complaint i have with the thing is the seats start to tear or separate from sliding in and out of the 4runner.

I have allready looked into the fj/5100, however it still rides like new, I'm not fixing it until its broken.

The nav and overall sound sucks imo but I can live with it.
