Picked Up My New 4Runner Yesterday!!! (First New Car)

Hey everyone --

I am officially a member of the 4Runner family now! I picked up my car yesterday evening in the drizzling rain. It was still a great day, even with the weather.

The car looks and rides great, and I'm pretty impressed with the leather upgrade the dealer did. We put black leather in the Shadow Mica, and I think it looks pretty slick. I will post pictures once the weather clears up.

I ended up getting the stainless steel door sills by accident, but I am kinda glad I got them. They are a nice touch.

Grabbed some black all-weather mats on the way out of the dealership, and they are already worth every penny due to the weather.

I'm taking it easy on her for the time being, but I'm looking forward to letting her rip after 800-1000 miles. In the meantime, I'm just going to enjoy the V8 grumble while in parking garages and going under overpasses :)

I think I'm going to consider getting a bug deflector and tinting the front windows (although they already seem to have a very light tint on them). I'm also planning to get some license plates with my school logo on them. That's all I've got planned for now.

Anyway, I am excited to finally have my car and hope to be posting a lot more frequently now with questions and pictures and what not.

Finally, i can say, "Congrats"!! Take a pic of the stainless steel door sill.

Just remember to open your garage door for venting while revving your engine at home!:D

Plan on doing any off-roading after your break-in period? :bigok:
 
Congrats on the new purchase! Shadow is definitely my favorite color for 2006. The lovely sound of the V8 never gets old so don't think that will go away with time. :p

I'll take plenty of pics soon.

I am probably never going to be a "hardcore" offroader (e.g. spotters, winches, lifts, etc.), but I'm looking forward to doing lots of light trails and unimproved roads, etc.
 
Congrats! My only tip - don't be over-paranoid with it. It's a truck and it can take it!

I spent waaay to much time fussing and aggrevating over our familys last new car (95 maxima). Sure, it still looks nearly new 11 years later, but if I were to go back I'd worry allot less.

Congratulations

Having gotten my new 4R three weeks ago, I know how thrilled you are.

I went over 1,000 miles last weekend and my fuel mileage has averaged 17.4 mpg for the first 1,151 miles.

I didn't push it hard for the first 500 miles, and I didn't tow anything until this weekend. Oh yeah, and I didn't do any sustained highway speeds either. On the last tankful, I did 381 miles on 19.5 gals of 87 octane. And this is with the V-8.

Have a blast with your new truck, and we'll all be waiting to see some pictures.

Remember to park farther out in the parking lot now and avoid those early dings!

Be carefull with those plans...the bug is highly addictive and the next thing you know....you have spent every last dollar buying rediculous things to make you pee your pants.

That's quite a car for your first new vehicle.
I'm still itching to pick my new truck up... it's on the way over from Japan... hasn't even hit US soil yet.
I'm sure you know the anticipation.

Have fun with your car, and don't go into debt buying mods.
I know that doesn't sound like a cool suggestion, but you will thank me at the end of your next semester, when you can't even afford to wash your clothes, and you still want to um... EAT! :beer:

Oh, and if you don't mind, what school?
I'm transferring to Belmont this fall from Loyola.

I won't buy very many mods at all. Bug protector and Revo's will probably be the extent. Maybe front window tint. I doubt I will ever buy a guard/protector.

I'm not sure if I said something to give you the impression that I'm a student, but I'm not. I have an engineering degree from Texas A&M and a law degree from the University of Texas. I finished my schooling about a year ago.

It was the school license plate statement that made me think student. Recent Alumn, close enough.
Anyhow, that's quite a combination of degrees... engineering and law. Wow - tough and tougher.
 
Congrat's on the new 4R , you'll love it !! I just can't get enough of mine . Great choice on the Shadow Mica color !! I really like that color , although it's seem's to be pretty rare around here for some reason.

Congrats on the 4Runner!!!...My first new vehicle was an '04 Runner, and I love it. Enjoy everything with the truck, it rocks and so does zeppelin!!!!!! In fact my wife and I named our firstborn girl, Page. It suits her perfectly.
 
Look's great , now go get some 265/70 Revo's or BFG's on there.

I went with the Galactica gray only because it has more horsepower out of all the 4R color's ........:D just kiddin , nice choice in color ....enjoy !!!

I think I will switch to Revo's when my stock tires give out. I am tempted to stay with the stock size, though.
