Im looking to buy a front bumper but having a hard time deciding as i havent seen any up close pics of each. My two choices are demello and shockworks. If anyone has any pics up close of them could you post them. Also really looking for a pic how the bumper comes to the front skid

I think both companies do really nice work, the demello is going to be lighter which is why I went that route (i also like the look).

I did have some fitment issues with it, and it isn't like I was going to ship it back across the country to have it fixed...and that was a letdown.

All in all I am very happy with the product though.

Does it cover the washer fluid bottle? And are the lights that come in the bumper good quality? Also the mounting area for the winch and then where the bumper meets the front skid plate.

I will get you some pics of the requested areas when I head out to lunch.

The lights are of very good quality, you can get the Acro lights from Demello or put in whatever you choose, they are good though...no complaints.

The Demello does not cover the washer bottle. I spray painted mine black and nobody has ever noticed it. I will probably just pull it out and not have one or if I feel rich get the expedition one bottle.

Just curious as to why CBI isn't on your choice list?

Opinions of the ones on your list from my perspective..

shrockworks: strong, good quality, requires opening the hood to access the winch controls, extrudes forward the furthest of all the options not giving you as much of an approach angle as you could find from another bumper option.

Demello: Unsure of strength as the lighter gauge material helps weight; however, I'm not sure how well it holds up to hitting a deer per say as I've seen how well the CBI and Shrockworks have held up to those encounters. Plenty of room to access the winch controls without opening the hood via all the openings in the front. good quality construction. Gives a better approach angle than the shrockworks.

CBI is a good option as well. I love the Shrockworks I have, and it does cover the washer fluid bottle with detachable plates and also comes with PIAA lights for the fogs and decent turn signals. My only issue ever with them was the 6 or 7 month wait time. And constant beating around the bush about a shipping or delivery date. If you need a bumper now, shop else where. If you can wait, Shrockworks, IMHO, is the way to go.

I think the other two look better than cbi. And i dont do serious offroading just mild stuff. I do plan on getting their rear bumper though.

Also their website says they arent takin orders for the front bumper till the new design comes out at the end of august i am curious to see what it will look like.

Demello uses 0.125" thick steel for the wings and "skin" of the bumper where CBI uses 7-gauge material (0.1793") and both bumpers (with single hoop) weigh about the same according to them... 110-115lbs

I think that was last August... their new design is out and a few people have it already. I've been emailing Nathan with questions and have seen a few pictures.

By the way, I'm shopping front bumpers too and have whittled it down to Demello and CBI. I've ruled Shrockworks out due to lead time and weight (about 30-40 lbs heavier). I love the angles incorporated into the top of the Demello bumper vs the flat-top of CBI's... it's a tough decision. I like certain things of every bumper choice out there, but don't like everything of any one particular brand. I wanted to add a little more coverage under the wings of the Demello, but don't know how hard that would be.

how come no ones front bumper EVER lines up with body lines? They're always sagging or off angle. One main reason i wont get one because of this. Is it poor install or design flaw?

I've seen them line up nicely and there is a bit of "adjustability" built in so I wonder if flexing the vehicle can cause the bumper to shift on the mounting points over time.

They will never line up perfectly. The top of the bumpers is largely flat, and if you look at the 4runner from the front under the lights sweeps upward as it nears the edge of the vehicle.

The way around it is to trim the top of the bumper so that the most inward part of the molding under the light tucks down behind the bumper.

Also, you are often seeing pictures of the trucks when they are not on a flat surface...the fram twist is huge on these trucks and you will notice a gap open on one side and shorten on the other.

You can make it work if you want to put the effort into it.

Here is a pic of the cbi: notice it is on perfectly straight but the gap increases as you approach the outside of the vehicle.

Went w SW bc of better fitment and it covers the wash bottle. No complaints other than lead time of 5.5 months. The Piaas that are an option aren't as bright as the stock fogs. It's snowing here or I would grab some better pics. This bumper butts right up to the stock front skid. The winch is a pain to mount as it mounts on the back of the front bumper plate.

I think you'll find yourself more pleased with the Demello judging from that response.

I agree with an earlier post on this thread I like a few things about all of them but not every thing about one in particular. I'd like to build a custom one for myself personally but I can't realistically believe I'll find time to manage that project.

Do a google image search too man...you can find a lot of photos online. Also, the ARB bumper is an option that you can get quickly, but it's also the bulkiest for the 4th gen. I'd get the shockworks, but any manufacturer with a 6 month wait time will not get my business.

They are adjustable, owners just have to get under them and readjust. You can adjust up and down 1 or 2 sides, you can tilt in or out. At least with the SW bumper. I presume like someone else said, gets out of whack due to flexing.
