Pics of your Aftermarket Double-Din

Looking for opinions/experiences on what aftermarket double-din I should chose for my 2008 SR5. I have replaced speakers with Kickers all around running through OEM headunit. Good quality of sound, just would like a modern upgrade.

Im interested in a Bluetooth/AUX/CD Player, open to all brands.
I would like touchscreen...
Also wondering if there are any direct plug & play besides a Scion headunit?
Possible direct fit wiring harness to plug & play with Toyota stock harness/interface?

It supports backup camera, OBD2 and pretty much any app you want because its android based. very powerful Let me know if you have any questions about it. I like that it can mirror the phone, play videos, youtube etc. very capable tech

Did you have your seats reupholstered or are those seat covers? I have a tear from the prior owner in my driver seat and I am trying to figure out options.

I did the install myself after reading through a couple of threads here in the forums. Took the better part of an afternoon and I have absolutely zero car audio experience. Damn that's a bit expensive though. How did you learn to install it? What links did you go to? And did you buy a toyota-specific harness?

In my opinion it's worth the price and seemed pretty average for the features you get. I learned to install it by reading through various threads on this forum. There are a lot of resources here. I just went back through my thread subscriptions and here are a few that I referenced:

This guy did a pretty good write up of all the parts he purchased and there are other posts in the thread that show the general process. It will be very similar no matter what head unit you choose.

I think I'm just going to go with a cheaper head unit that doesn't have ApplePlay, like the AVH-290BT (https://www.amazon.com/Pioneer-AVH-290BT-Multimedia-Receiver-Bluetooth/dp/B01M4LKXRA). Do you think ApplePlay is necessary for these things? I assume it will still play music from my iPhone or iPod without it. And I think I'm going to have a pro install it first, then I'll install the backup camera when I find a good one.

Nah, I'd say only get one with carplay if it's something that you really really wanted. Otherwise, as long as it has bluetooth you'll be able to stream music wirelessly from any smartphone.

Which Dash kit did you go with and are you pleased with the fitment?
Would recommend anything differently regarding install parts that might work or fit better?

Here's my Kenwood DDX373BT. You can choose the color for the controls so it will match the factory orange if you want.

It sounds great and I've been very pleased with one exception: when an iPhone is plugged in, the unit begins playing music from it regardless of what mode it was in before. For example, say you don't want to listen to anything so the radio is in standby mode. When you plug in your iPhone, it will starting playing so you have to switch back to standby to stop it.

That's fine as an option but there's no way to deactivate it. The unit also defaults to iPhone music, so sometimes I start the car and have a podcast playing but the unit switches to music. On occasion, this happens several times in succession - I switch back to the podcast or to standby, it switches back to music. I contacted Kenwood and they said that's just the way it works.

So to some that may be no big deal but I'm sure it drives many people crazy. As for me, it's not bad enough to switch out the unit but I won't buy another Kenwood.

If I was buying now I'd be sure to get Apple Play.

I just ordered everything to install stereo in my 04 Limited. Did you use any steering wheel controls?
