Thanks

Alright - it's my husband's truck - but I do all the cleaning and stuff. He bought it in '96 setup pretty much as is, but it was stock silver and still had door handles. He took it in one mud bog competition and won runner-up, then sent it in to be stripped and painted - also shaved the door handles. It hasn't been off-road or muddin' since. That was '97.
He had a motorcycle accident 1 month after he got it back from being painted and now has short-term memory loss (bummer), so he doesn't remember how to work on them (runners) nor does he trust his memory enough to even begin something with it. So it sat for 11 years - just driven back and forth in the summer - stored in the winter. Whatever he had planned for it died in the accident.
I'm trying to help him do a little bit with it (what I can manage)...new rims (had to get the backspacing right because it had spacers on it). A new polished aluminum dif cover - not easy because we didn't know the rearend (dana 60 apparently)...with Toyota brakes. He wants to replace the shock hoops because they look like hell. I'd like to set him up with tubular control arms but don't know where to look or what the consequences of that would be.
The truck used to have Downey stickers on it so I called them and sent pics of the front-end. The susp lift was identified as a 4" Trailmaster, a 3 or 4" body lift and the torsion bars are cranked (hence 2 degrees off camber on pass side).
Oh and the color is Subaru yellow. It's so bright that I can't get a detailed picture in the sunlight...it's like blinding. He was just out of high school when he bought it and the guys all wanted 4 runners and they were picking skittles colors for them. Everyone else has moved on and sold theirs (never painted) but Bumblebee is still here.
We have an '84 with a 350 bored 30 over in the back shed. It has a TH350 tranny newly rebuilt, never been run. The plan was to put this in the bee, but I think we've run out of time, as we don't know anyone who can do it. We may be looking to sell the '84.
Now that's probably a lot more than anyone needed to know. As for the fender flares...he said they are actually for the pickup? That at the time they didn't have them for the runners? We're looking at 12 years ago...
