Hey,
Looking to get a new in dash video head unit for my 2002. Hoping you guys could post some pics of your head units and the model information.

If there is already a thread for this, can you please post the link. I couldn't find anything in my search.

Audio and electronics section is where you will find everything. I have some pics in there of my Kenwood DNX5120
 
pioneer 3100. love it, and it has a bunch of settings that will make the quality of your music amazingly better, the highs and mids sound so good with the stock speakers, everyone that listens to my music says it sounds like i have aftermarkets. and then you can control a subwoofer with all bass to your sub, and none to your doors so you can crank it without blowing your stuff.

I really like the 3100, its very affordable and does everything I would want in an in dash screen, but the USB in front for the iPod just ruins everything. I think it looks very messy.
 
yeah it is somewhat annoying. that was the only chord they had at the time so i went back and got the shorter one, its not even that noticable if you put your ipod in that little space right in front of the shifter.

Does look a little messy. My 2002 also doesn't have the empty slot right below the HU (I don't believe), so I would have to put the ipod in the cup holder or find somewhere else. The unit seems to be able to do everything I would need though.

Really like the kenwood, but you have to pay for all the extra's, kind of a bummer.

Trust me, you do have the small pocket below the radio. Technically, it's directly below the cig lighter...all 3rd gens have this odd small space.

BTW, do a search on this site for: Pioneer 4100. There you'll find a link to my own install. The 4100 rocks.
 
Alpine CDE-102. has the ipod cord coming out of the back and run into the glovebox. keeps the ipod charged and you can control it from the deck.

I have the Ipod attachment running into my glove box. I thought about putting it in my center console...i've just been to lazy to do it. One of the nice features is that the GPS is Garmin, which is by far the nicest out there. You will have to check out my new thread in Audio & electronice next week. I have all sorts of cool shi.... Stuff (forgot people dont like swearing on here) going in next week. Just installed a Boyo reverse cam plus I have two 7" headrests monitors going in and also a custom Q Logic box with a JL 10W3 going in.

Kenwood DDX814. Basically the 9140 without the NAV. Just got this hooked up and haven't spent a lot of time with it yet, but it is very sweet. Perfect fit, looks great in the dash. Awesome clarity on the DVD playback and the iPod controls are very nice.



Notice in these pictures that you can adjust the buttons on the Kenwood unit to match perfectly with the rest of the green dash lights:


I've got the iPod cable run into the center console compartment. Plan to get a piece of thick foam to put in the little top tray and cut out an area the size of the iPod to mount it in there. For now it just sits in the center console, but at least it is out of site. This picture shows the hole I cut in the bottom of the console to get the cord through.

how do you like this headunit? this is the exact one i want. I have the Alpine TDM-4675 (cassette to ipod) or something like that and its ok but i dont want to see the wires and the faceplate doesnt bond well with the rest of it so it randomly shuts off so i am looking to replace it with a new one.
