Here ya go guys. Here are the pictures that I promised. I totalled it about two weeks ago.I hit the begining of the gaurdrail dead on and rolled 2-3 times. I cant figure out how to post more than one pictures in one post so bear with me.

Notice the hole above the wheel well. We guess that some piece of the gaurdrail came up through the floor board.

That is amazing! If you had been in a Explorer......well, you probably wouldn't be here posting these pics.

After hitting the guard rail, did you end up on the road or the opposite side of the rail? What was on the other side of the rail, meaning creek, trees, etc.?

Yea. I was so upset about my car but I have gotten over it now cause it can be replaced. I was in the left lane and hit the rail on the left side. I ended up in the left lane. On the other side was just a grassy median

Amazing pics. It blows my mind to see people's cars totally smashed to pieces and the people walk away with just bumps and bruises.

Don't mean to hijack the thread....but does anyone know what happens to that car after the insurance companys "totals" it?

Does the scrap yard just compact it and be done with it? Or are they parts pirates and rape that thing for anything of value and sell it on eBay / other parts sites??

I was thinking, as the previous owner, you could have probably taken some of the good parts out (minor things like the tail lights, radio, etc) and got some more $$ towards the new ride.

Then again, I'm sure mom and pops will spring for whatever the difference is in the insurance check and your OTD price on your new rig anyway.

once the insurance company totals it and pays you...the car is their to do whatever they want with it. you can't take anything back. that happened to vortec as he was trying to take his HIDs back. i guess the company sells it back to some dealer who wants to either scrap it or strip it for parts.

Would you be willing to sell the interior trim for the rear doors? I have to large german shepherds they tore the hek out of it. The piece is the one right above the silver inset. It is the black trim piece closest to the window?

I would sell yall stuff but I dont have a clue what happened to the car. I was on my way to college in Abilene, Texas so it got hauled off to some small town out here in west Texas. We already got the check so like somebody said earlier there is nothing I can do.

Holy crap you're lucky to be alive! That looks just nasty.

As far as the parts go, the insurance company will auction off what's left at a salvage auto auction. Most likely it will be purchased by a salvage yard who will then part it out and sell the rest off as scrap metal for recyling.

Be very careful about getting something like a seat from a salvage yard. Depending on the accident, they may no longer be safety worthy.

Great to hear you are ok. There was a guy in town here who hit a guard rail, it pierced through part of the fender/dash and went right into his chest. Needless to say, he isn't posting any pics...
