Yep, you can do it yourself w/ no prior experience, it's easy. Try googling Toyota FSM.

After reading all about it here , I asked our 2 local trans shops and neither , to date has had a Runner in with this problem . Preventative maintenance is always good though
People start reading about a few experiences and soon its a 'common' thing . It's not really though.

for the little it cost me to do it, it is worth that peace of mind. hoses in perfect shape so didnt replace. preventative maintenance.

Except you don't know what it looks like internally, which is where the breach occurs...
