You mention above that the work included flashing the engine control computer's ROM? Or something like that?

Does anybody know if the 05s have this issue? It almost sounds like the TSB is some kind of workaround and not really a fix.

I was told by my dealership that both Nissan and Toyota were having problems with the sulfur smell because the two manufacturers were using CATs from the same company. Not sure if that is true or not. Well if Toyota is now using the newer cats on the 2005 with the newer programming then it shouldn't be a problem with the 2005 models. Thats all a hypothesis so take it for what its worth.

Rabeet - the problem they diagnosed with mine was a shorted terminal. That was "probably" caused by them flashing the ECM because they have to plug into it somehow. I'm not sure if the ECM itself was the problem, but on mine the problem was the connector. Tribe and I had the same issue at the same dealership so it's a chance that the fix would be similar.

Tribe, I agree that I don't think the O2 sensor is any way related to the drive train. I've looked underneath and I'm not sure where the O2 sensor bungs are located. If during the process of switching out the CATs they may have damaged an O2 sensor, but why would that affect the VSC performance? If you live a bit farther north, Kay Jennings Toyota in Springfield is pretty good. My mother has taken her car there before with no complaints.

Ok, here is an update on what they did to the truck. On the work order it says that they repaired shorted terminals of DLC Sensor. It took them .2 hours to do, though they had the truck all day

The tech was Zachary Cole and Tim Shanahan was the service manager who did the write up for me.

I drove it home last night and the lights never came home. Drove it to work through stupid stop and go traffice on I95 and still working like a charm. Keeping my fingers crossed. Hope that hleps Patrick.

I know this has been a few months ago since you had your VSC problems. I would assume the lights never came on again. I've had my VSC lights and check engine lights on for quite a while now. First diagnosis was an evap leak (went to my Toyota mechanic and Toyota dealer). Both had the same results. No leak was found so I continued to drive it since it's been driving just fine. I am printing out everyone's VSC/engine light problems to take my my dealer. They are supposedly the experts, but obviously in yours and my experiences, they don't always know what the problems are or how to fix them first hand. I am certainly out of my warranty, hopefully not an expensive fix!!!
