Piston Slap or Cracked Manifold.

I know that this issue has been covered before. Ive read a lot of the threads on the possibility of either scenario, but I gotta say, I am confused. Let me explain. Whenever I start my truck, I let it it run 1-2 minutes before taking off. When I do, I lower the window to see if I hear the tick (right side) and its barely noticable. If I start the truck and take off right away, regardless of the temp outside, its pretty loud. Once Ive been driving for a short period of time, it goes away. But the weird thing is, if i make a quick pit stop say to grab a soda at the gas staion and hop right back in and take off, the ticking starts up again as if the engine was cold. The stealership has heard it and quoted me a new manifold. I feel like they are just speculating and really havent pinpointed the problem. what do you guys think?

It does sound like a cracked exhaust manifold.

If there's a small crack in the manifold it'll make a lot of noise as exhaust gas escapes. But as it heats up the metal expands and closes up the crack. When you stop someplace and shut the engine off...the manifold cools down and the crack opens up again.

A piston slap won't go away when the engine heats up.

Yea I kinda figured but wasn't sure. Don't know how long ill put up with it. Toyota quoted me 1500$ to replace it but it's not worth it right now. Worse comes to worse, ill buy the parts from Toyota and have my local mechanic do it. He took care of my 3 Gen for 7 years so im sure he would give me a good price.
