Planning my Projector retrofit

haha not yet I'm pretty broke right now but hoping i can get started soon. I've been thumpin around ideas of what i want to do. I wanted to add an 2nd projector in the the inside corner but the black adjustment piece in the back might make it a little difficult.

I'll see when i get there but as of now i'm for sure going to get the fxr or S2k projectors. I also want to experiment with plexi-glass. You know when people put leds in the glass and the edges give you a nice clean glow of the led? I want to work with that a little. Then I'll add a super bright orange DRL on the bottoms of the headlight. One of these days I'll lay it all out in a picture. should be pretty sweet. My goal is to get rid of the "bugeye" look

Might want to try vacuum forming. You can build a table big enough for a set of headlights pretty easy. It's something we've started to experiement with. In fact if you saw the back of my LS460 retro, you'd see some vac forming in action. The whole rear of the headlights has been remade.

I've been wanting to try LED's in the end of some plastic style tubing(forget the exact material name). Seen guys drill out the ends, insert an LED, and the hole tube will glow. Pretty cool, and it's flexible. Electro-luminescent tape is always an option as well. Retrofits are extremely addicting. ughhh.

What kind of 2nd projector are you thinking? A matchbox? That seems like it would be a tight fit, but I'd be pretty cool. I'm definitely going FX-R next time as well, but I think I'll upgrade to the Osram SVS bulbs. I look forward to your next build as your first one was sweet.

thanks man, Yeah i haven't seen the matchbox projectors I'll have to check it out. My original plan was to use my OEM fogs after i got a plated bumper but that's gonna be too long down the road. I may try the blazers too i don't know. but yeah i want to black out the headlights too.

this is where i got my idea with the plexiglass (sorta) I think these guys just used LED strips. I'm hoping to make it a clean line of light

thanks rick, i was trying to figure out what they call that. This is ideally what i want to do. I'm gonna have to do some research and see if i can pull this off.

how did you do those orange LED's inside of the headlight housing?

pg. 4 and pg. 6 show a good view and description of what i used. Basically got to Home Depot, find the little metal corner pieces, have them cut it down to around 6 inches then wrap it in some reflective tape and glue them inside the headlights. I bought the LED strip from VLEDS, It has 2 wires coming out (a ground and a hot. I tapped into the corner light for the power and just grounded the other one to the some metal near by.

The pics make it look like a solid orange strip which is cool and all but in person you can see the individual LED. I would recommend finding some sort of cover or face the LED's sideways to make it look cleaner
