I would like to do that, just worried I would get it on the paint. After all that masking, Plasti-Dip still found its way onto the paint. It rubs off though, unlike other paint.

I know, no matter how careful you are there is a possibility of making a mistake but, if you stay steady, close (4-6in) and do a good job masking then you shouldn't have an issue

Thanks, you have a nice truck too. I commented on your intro thread saying we have the same headlights and both Plasti-Dipped lol. I'm in the Hackettstown area. Good to have another NJ member around.

The plasti-dipped cladding looks really good. I think plasti-dip is pretty easy to work with, however, I'm not sure you need that much masking. There will be some over spray, but it rolls/peels off pretty easily. It might save you some time if you mask less. Although, I'm sure the 2nd time was much faster than the first time with the garbage bags & tarp.
I have heard of another product, called back to black (or something like that) and it is more of a paint or stain for plastic cladding like this. I know a lot of people used them on Honda Elements because the early Gens had gray cladding that faded really quickly. From what I remember, the people that used it said it was a horrible mess and a pain to work with though.

I would like to do a clear coat so it could be easier to wash and protect it more. Any ideas? I'd prefer to avoid a spray so I don't have to worry about overspray.

Got some daylight pics! Spent all day yesterday washing, polishing, and waxing the truck. Of course, one day on the highway today and I got some bugs on the front already :rant: Oh well, here you go guys. Let me know what you think! :boink:

Thanks, it was a lot of work but well worth it. I saw you had a black '03 with cladding so if that's the look you're going for, I'd recommend it because it is very cost effective and durable as well. It just takes a lot, and I mean A LOT of time. Get ready to devote a whole day to doing it. I miss this truck because of all the effort I put into it. It had such a great look to it, very unique.
Plasti dip is way to easy to use and seems forgiving. Heres a youtube video on someone doing their whole car if someone is scared of getting it on their paint. It seems like it just peels right off. Also if your looking for a way to keep your cladding black, if it's anything like the cladding on my old Avalanche just get some turtle wax tire shine (or any brand really) and rub it evenly over it. It will only keep its shine for a week or 2, but its a cheap way to keep it black and doesn't grab dirt or particles.

I actually bought those from him and they're on my truck now. It's a whole assembly. You can buy them on eBay.

Wish I could give you an answer but I lost my truck over a year ago. I do suspect it would have help up well though, for the few months I've had it, it held up pretty well. I'd recommend it to anyone who is up to the amount of work it involves.

It hasn't been years, but check out [MENTION=79132]Nyc-Runner[/MENTION] build thread. He did his whole Runner last year sometime.
